I’m forever looking for my trusted old yardstick. I’m always tucking it somewhere in my studio and then have to play “Where did I put it?” when I need it again. The solution? Sometimes we staple! Usually someone gasps in horror when we say we use staples on occasion for our wool appliqué. Once the appliqué is stitched down, it is quite easy to remove the staples. No need for fusible or glue and they are easier to stitch around than pins. Have you tried staples before? Hello, old friend. It’s good to see you up on my wall again. I finished my Kawandi Saturday, and needed something else to sew. These blocks reminded me that they are still waiting. Two more were finished yesterday, and I have high hopes to finish the rest and write a full pattern. The weird layout is helping me see how large the quilt will be when I’m done. 10 rows of 10 blocks. I had originally planned some kind of complicated layout, but I love the randomness. I see patterns begin to form, fall apart, then reappear. I really like it. Also, it’s easier than figuring out something else! Rooted. We have another Sue Spargo wool project finish! This is Shawna’s @shawanawhoopall and it’s so good. Not too big, not too small, just right! At 20”x23” it’s not one of the ones that takes a lifetime to finish and is beautiful and earthy. I know a few of us are working on our version and this will inspire us to finish too 🤗 These projects are the perfect thing to take along with us when in travel mode, small and portable. The blocks come together one stitch at a time and suddenly there’s a mosaic of beautiful wool and thread, like art. Two days later…and of course, one thing leads to another. Dane assembled the shelves, and it then set off a chain reaction of reorganizing. The shelves allowed a perfect expansion of space for wool, threads and other supplies I make constant use of. I even ended up hanging two of my favorite pieces that I had packed away…why?? I love how they now complement Agnes, my beautiful sheep picture. I have a comfy chair in the corner, and a large window with beautiful views of our patio throughout the seasons. The music I love is always softly playing, or a favorite podcast to catch up on.
