@upward_bound_house has an amazing program and is in my opinion an exemplary model of how transitional shelters should be operated in California and across the United States.
It was my pleasure to be given a tour throughout the facilities by Laura Anderson the Director of Donor Relations.
The center has a pantry full of food that has been donated by wonderful people and organizations. Here, residents of Upward Bound House can come shop for free once a week.
There is also an on-site clothing shop where residents can also pick out garments free of charge.
Solving homelessness is not an easy task. Giving families a roof over their head is a step in the right direction however, more needs to be done.
Resources need to be provided so that people climbing out of being unhoused can prosper and get back on their feet for good.
The Upward Bound House team also takes the time to help residents find stable jobs!!
