Last weekend was the TMZ Championship race… in Dutch Province “Zeeland”, I have worked very hard towards this day, hours of training, days, weeks, months….
Unfortunately my target was not achieved. 🤦♂️💁♂️ So disappointed because the victory was in sight, I was so sooo close of winning… becoming new champion💫
Situation :
At the start with a very large group of strong riders, racing attentively was the key, I kept myself at the front the whole time, everything was still looking positive. Then entering the last lap, only 1,5K to go, the nervousness in the peloton was very noticeable, …… suddenly one rider surprised the group, he attacked, I waited for 3sec, no one responded, …. I did not hesitate, I took the risk to attack too, so no mass sprint for me, …
Hesitation in the peloton grew. The gap was growing 70-80-100meters, still less then 1K to go…
I did my maximum, I tried to push my fellow riders in our getaway, only 200 meters to attack… but unfortunately the riders could not maintain the high pace, no coorporation, the speed went down, I did not gave up, I continued myself, but it was too late …. No new champion, finishline in sight, I could not reach anymore, the chasing peloton at killing pace was ruthless, so sooo disappointed.🤦♂️🤦♂️
Can't be described in words, I did not achieve my goal…… 😵💫😔now it’s time to heal, recover and (re)focus, …. Never surrender. Keep moving ! ✊💫
