Independent: not depending on another’s authority
These are the principles of our founding fathers for our country. I was thinking, if they are good enough for them, they are probably great for blended families.
Your blended family is a unit. Are you united, free and independent; operating in your home with these guiding principles?
A lot of blended families experience failure because they don’t experience unity, individuals in them don’t feel free to be their true selves, and they don’t experience independence because they operate at the mercy of the ex.
As you celebrate the 4th of July today, also consider how you can shift your blended family a bit more towards unity, freedom and independence.
