We’d thought the last four days were going to be made up of many relaxed moments that looked like this 📸 But, in reality it was a whirlwind of parental chaos 🤪 It was a loud and busy home. Endless ferrying of our five boys to one place or another. It was boys tackling each other down the hallway, and foraging for wood to start a backyard fire🔥 Teenage music and rearranging of beds. It was blankets and wet towels everywhere. Food, oh so much food. It was plans made, then completely disregarded. Playground visits and JetSkis that had run out of petrol. It was a two year old up all night, trying to keep up with his brothers. Giggles and tears. It was the kind of disorganised, careless chaos, that only a house full of teenage boys can muster. A little boy with two older siblings. They have 10 years apart but I hope that won’t negatively impact their relationship. I like to think they’ll have a better relationship because of the age gap. He’s always watching and finds his siblings very interesting. They are at the age where they are aware of their surroundings and other people and how actions affect others. They are able to intentionally play with him and talk to him and interact with him. They share their time between our home and their own mother’s home, but I believe it’s a nice balance for all three kids. They get time alone with their own mom, and during that time the little man gets his alone time with myself and his dad. And when y he older kids are home with us then we all get to interact together. Yesterday I was having a rough day. Nothing I can’t handle but it was rough. I was hiding in the closet crying it out so my grandson didn’t know. My phone rang, it was my oldest. Those of you that know me know I will ALWAYS answer. I quickly pulled it together (so I thought) and answered. He immediately knew something was wrong even though I denied it. And eventually I broke down, I’ve never done that. I’m the Mom, I’m supposed to have it together. After a minute I started apologizing for unloading, I felt awful. He calmly said it’s ok, I’ve never heard you like this and then preceded to give me some really good advice. Now my oldest is not biologically mine. I came into his life when he was 11. We have most definitely had our ups and downs. But no matter what I’ve been there. Even after hateful things have been said, poor choices made…I’ve shown up. Always. He is 32 now. He is not perfect.
