Meet Mark Georgio, one of our Surgical & Anesthesia Technicians at BSVESS. Mark has worked with us for the past eight years. Mark has a long history in the veterinary field, with his career spanning over twenty- two years. He began his career as a Tech Assistant at Atwood Animal Hospital. In just two years there he had trained as a technician. Looking for a new challenge, he moved on to Ocean State where he discovered his passion for Emergency medicine and surgery. Ready for a change of scenery, he ventured out into the world and moved to Arizona, where he continued working as a Tech at VCA Emergency Referral Practice where he worked in ICU/Emergency. When he moved back to Rhode Island, he began working at Tufts Grafton in their ER/Critical Care department. Although his passion was always for Emergency/Surgery, he was ready for a break, so he returned to General practice for a few years at Atwood Animal Hospital. However, soon after, his love for Emergency medicine brought him to Baystate, where he's been a part of our family ever since!
Mark has worked in several different departments, beginning in Emergency, eventually moving into Internal Medicine and has now found his home in the Surgery Service. He enjoys learning new skills and the complexity of each surgery case is extremely interesting to him.
Here at BSVESS, Mark has been working hand in hand with Dr. Besancon and the rest of the surgery service for the last 5 years. He really likes working with all of his co-workers and is always making everyone laugh, realizing that in such a stressful environment, laughter truly is the best medicine!
