carefree

((a poem))
.
i wanna be carefree—
as summer flowers bloom freely so.
as the child who runs then tumbles down a hill
arms always wide, laughter erupting
then he climbs the hill again + blows bubbles.
carefree as the sparrow
who knows not one feather falls
that her Maker does not see.
but i'm afraid i'll be the stem
staggering with the weight of so many blooms
to fall under night rain or heavy, morning dew;
bruised like a child who stumbles;
+ if one sparrow dies
does a soul see?
yet One does.
the same One who heals our brokenness
+ promises that He's our strong vine;
we're simply branches lifted by His ability.
He bids me bloom + run + fly.
for a plant desires flowers for seeds
+ was made for that holy purpose.
somehow I hear “cast your burdens—“
+ i am carefree in Jesus
even in night rain + heavy, morning dew
because He is capable of carrying them
quite easily.
