Hodebert was built on a rocky peak on the hillside in the pretty Duye valley where the Clarté Dieu abbey (XII th century ) is also located.
It was in the middle of the 16th century that its construction began by extracting tufa stone from the hillside.
The oldest owners of whom traces have been found are the Moreaus from Poitou, at the end of the 16th century. At this time, Hodebert resembled a manor with a stunning staircase tower and 3 windows per level.
By looking carefully, you can observe the stones on the left and right which delimit this period

Hodebert à été construit sur un piton rocheux à flanc de coteaux dans la jolie vallée de la Duye où se trouve aussi l’abbaye de la Clarté Dieu ( XII eme siècle) @abbayedelaclartedieu
C est au milieu du 16 eme siècle que sa construction débute en extrayant la pierre de tuffeau dans le coteau. Les plus anciens propriétaires dont on a retrouvé la trace sont les Moreau, originaires du Poitou, a la fin du 16 eme. À cette époque Hodebert ressemble à un manoir avec une tour d escalier hors d œuvre et 3 fenêtres par niveau.
En regardant avec attention, vous pouvez observer les pierres a gauche et a droite qui délimitent cette période.
