Editing's expensive for a reason: people hate it. Ripping apart your hard work, deciphering your past thoughts, realizing your stellar scene makes no sense. I've edited my current book about five times, and my agent wants me to go through it again.
Despite how annoying editing is, it brings out the best in a story. I love and loathe reading my work because I know I'm gonna change something and it'll become a thousand times better. But it requires coming in with fresh eyes and a willingness to cut, condense, and revise.
