Had an excellent day at my local library’s Author Showcase. There were poems recited, short stories, book excerpts. Everyone read with such feeling it often brought tears to my eyes. We had such a good crowd who engaged with us and even prompted more readings. I was able to share work by my friend @samuel.hurley who has a poem inside my novel, The Light Over Broken Tide. So despite the massive session I undertook yesterday, I knew I technically still had two more sessions I needed to partake in to continue my practice of consistency. So, I set out to write my bare minimum today in order to at least continue my promise to myself. By the end of the night, with on and off writing while playing #fallout4 , I managed to hit 1,527 words to end the latest chapter. I’m sure there is only around four chapters that remain so I know I am super close to finishing! I have no set deadline for myself, but I’m sure with the right consistency I might be able to finish by next week! We shall see! LoL I found one chapter where I changed POVs 3 times...very frustrating! Man, Asimov was a genius. The entire premise of this series is so interesting, and it kind of leaves you wondering who you should be rooting for. I found myself rooting for just about everyone, even the scary guy who was obvious we didn't want to succeed. I think part of that was because he's so interesting, and part of it was that we wanted the same answers he did . . . just, not so we could dominate the galaxy. I found myself doing exactly what a reader should be doing, figuring things out seconds before the characters. There were a couple of times I was annoyed at information that was withheld, feeling like I should have been able to figure it out too, but that totally played into what was going on, just in a way I only picked up on later. And, yet again, I solved the big mystery close to the beginning of the book, only to start doubting myself until the reveal at the very end. I was almost disappointed in how it ended, but something was nagging at me and it totally paid off in the last chapter, and I'd been right the entire time! Realizations of what had been going on throughout the book kept coming after I'd finished. One day, I hope to be able to write a mystery like that. Day 27 #AuthorApril24 Word Count/Status Update: This past week I had a goal to write every day no matter what, after a previous week of not writing much at all. I managed it. Even on Thursday when work was hectic. Even on Friday when I was nursing a strained throat/vocal cord from Thursday that made swallowing awkward so that I literally had to press my fingers to my bruised-feeling throat to swallow. And still I went to work for a full day and managed to write at home. I’m amazed at what I accomplished. Even today when I thought I’d written half the word count I actually completed. In total, I added 13,001 words to my enemies-with-enemies WIP. Gotta love that random word that brought the count to 13,001. 🤣 P.S. Don’t mind my bad handwriting. Writing by hand is getting harder thanks to the arthritis in my fingers. My thumb finger joint (by my nail) is starting to lock up. 🫤 #ChrysFey
