“Warner’s: 100 Years, 100 Classics.” Jerry (John Denver), a supermarket employee, is chosen by God (George Burns) to spread a message to the rest of the world in “Oh God!” (1977). Not surprisingly religious leaders are soon demanding that he proves his claim, not to mention his wife Bobbi (Teri Garr). Donald Pleasence, Ralph Bellamy, William Daniels, Barnard Hughes, Paul Sorvino, Barry Sullivan and Dinah Shore (as herself) are featured. Together with the perfect casting of Burns with music superstar Denver, it hit all the right notes and quickly became one of the year’s biggest hits earning $31.5M. Directed by Carl Reiner, Burns was back at the top in the late 1970’s and appeared in two lesser sequels. Denver surprisingly never made another film despite his charm and success here. Instead he would continue to generate hit music with 14 Top 40 hits between 1971 and 1982. “It’s true. People have trouble remembering My Words.
