We're well into spring now, with temperatures rising along the southwestern coastline to well above zero degrees. I am beginning to notice the leaves sprouting on the trees in the city.
For quite some time, I've observed the mountains just beyond the capital area adorned in winter white contrasing the springbound cityscape. Now they have shed their wintry coating and appear poised for summer.
Therefore I need ascend even higher altitudes to encounter winter, yet even in the highlands, winter's grasp is diminishing. This icy, arctic realm, is now scattered with soggy and wet patches caused by fast melting snow. It is prudent to traverse depressions in the landscape with extreme care.
It is in one of those pits, we needed to bring out the rope, and pull one jeep back to stronger ground!
