Had a great time coordinating the annual tree planting with @nyctrout @newyorkbha @huntersofcolor @troutunlimited @tuvolops @tu_northeast at the Amawalk! This is the only designated wild trout stream that is within 40 miles of New York City. Before I had a car, I used to subway here, often, as many NYC anglers do currently and have done before me all to chase trout and enjoy this incredible ecosystem in our backyard! It is pretty amazing to see how many folks showed up from a coalition of conservation orgs to chip in to protect the stream by planting trees for bank stabilization and clearing invasive species. Excited for future work on this river, and thankful for all those who showed up and got their hands dirty!
