Days 1-4

So here we go! Finally after what always seems like a long build up we headed north for the Isle of Skye and that Hebridean wind. Our first camp was a familiar one, I think it’s good to have that comfort on the first night. Loch Doon is stunning and a very easy camp, so it ticks the boxes. We found a lovely little opening in the trees and bathed in the birdsong for a night. The next day was another big push north as we still had well over 4 hours to go. Passing through Glencoe on a sunny day is a wonder of this world and it felt really nice to revisit the place where our wild camping journey began! Our night concluded at Loch Linnhe with the ever imposing Ben Nevis never further than a glance away. One more push to Skye!! We headed on to the beautiful isle and the weather was absolutely perfect. We found a secluded woodland spot off of the beaten track and sat with our feet in the pretty stream that ran past our tent. As a hello to Skye we couldn’t have asked for a better day. The next morning brought CHALLENGES. We got up at 4am to avoid the rain and ended up just packing away in it anyway, so that was a wonderful start. We found solace in a beautiful little deli, and dragged our homeless looking selves around @talisker Distilery. We made the most of the crap weather, but this wasn’t the highlight. The highlight was on Loch Ainort. Our first encounter with at least 2 otters and one very curious seal bopping around the water! We didn’t know at this point how much wildlife would play a part in this trip but after the unexpected mountain hare at loch Doon and these furry little encounters, we were well on our way for a walk on the wild side. We returned to our original spot from the night before which kinda felt like a wasted exercise, but it was familiar and comfortable in the changing weather under the Cuillin Hills.

-
#roamtheplanet #isleofskye #scotland #lochdoon #lochlinnhe #lochainort #scottishweather #adventure #visitscotland #wildcamp #camping #woodland #mountains #cuillins #talisker #getoutside #greatoutdoors #travel #roadtrip #travelphotography #glencoe
