Yoi is an interesting main lead because she's confident but at the same time super shy and unsure of stepping out of the mold the whole school puts her in. And she is gorgeous! Like I understand why everyone calls her "the prince" but she is also so so cute!! And of course we got Ichimura being the cool and handsome mystery guy~ In the first volume I'll be honest... I wasn't a big fan of Ichimura, but in the following volumes he's starting to grow on me. I love seeing him get flustered and jealous by anything Yoi does! Its so cute! And the side characters are absolutely hilarious! Its an interesting trope that I've seen a lot recently. The trial dating to see if they want to go out for real or not. I like it so far and the artstyle~ oh my goodness its so GORGEOUS! Can I just say that the story and artwork for the latest fantasy manga are just perfection. 🤌🏼💓 I'll yell to the sky that Nina The Starry Bride has gorgeous artwork, but having read v.1 of A Kingdom of Quartz. 😩💓 The color panels alone are flipping amazing, and then the little details throughout the manga is stunning. The storyline kept me hooked, which is about angels and demons and the floating kingdom in the sky. My explanation can't do this story justice, but just know it's amazing. If you ever get the chance, I really hope you get to check it out. 🤩 What it's about: An orphaned girl named Blue has always dreamed of joining the ranks of the noble Angels, servants of the floating palace who protect the Quartz Kingdom against demons. Yet, Blue is not like the other children at the orphanage. Where their fledgling angel wings are downy white, Blue's are pitch black, giving rise to whispers that she is cursed. One day, the orphanage comes under attack by a host of demons. Angels swoop down from the palace to drive the demons back, but Blue watches in horror as they are cut down one after another. Once I’m finished with The Star Wars, my next reads shall most likely be the third Percy Jackson and Dandadan volume 7. Dandadan v7 just came out about a month ago, and I have yet to start it. Been busy with a few things, but I’m eager to hop into the next arc. It’s a short read, so then I’ll probably hop into Percy Jackson The Titan’s Curse. The first two were very good and the ending of book 2 has me very curious where they’ll take the 3rd book. But also SandLand (RIP Toriyama). Aber Yohei hat ein Geheimnis. Welches ? Er ist unsterblich in Yui verliebt. Eines Tages sieht er wie Kei Yui küsst und kurz danach zieht er überraschenderweise weg und die Freundschaft endet. Nach einer gewissen Zeit kommen Yohei und Yui auch in der Oberschule in eine Klasse und noch eine Hübsche Blondine die ihn gleich anspricht und Dinge weis die eigentlich niemand wissen kann. Also wer ist die attraktive Blondine? Genau sein früherer Freund Kei. Ich bin mir noch nicht genau sicher wie ich diesen Band beschreiben soll. Aber das was thematisiert wird ist so wichtig und darüber hinaus war ich erstaunt wie offen Kei dazu steht. Ich muss unbedingt Teil 2 lesen den hier wurde ich irgendwie etwas Verwirrt zurück gelassen. Kennt jemand die Reihe von euch ? Kommt da mehr Klarheit mit dem nächsten Band ? LA FEALDAD COMO RECURSO ESTÉTICO EN KENGAN ASHURA • Che, qué buen guionista es Sandrovich Yabako, la verdad. Hoy estaba leyendo el tomo 10 de Kengan Ashura y el tipo metió una pelea sangrienta de cinco capítulos y, como trasfondo, fue narrando las vidas de ambos peleadores, al punto de hacerme emocionar por Sekibayashi, personaje que normalmente no le suelo dar bola. Y es un gran guionista porque si comparamos Kengan Ashura con How Heavy are the Dumbbell you lift?, no quedan dudas de que ambas son obras suyas, aunque una es un nekketsu y la otra una comedia. Es decir que sabe imprimir su identidad con diferentes recursos. • Pero me quiero centrar en los dibujos de Daromeon. He leído bastante sobre gente que dice que dibuja feo y que por eso no leen el manga, y la verdad es que sí, que tiene un dibujo irregular, con expresiones simples de momento y que se llenan de detalles por otros. En efecto, Daromeon dibuja feo, pero lo que por ahí no se interpreta es que esto es una elección estética. • En una obra donde la violencia, la deformación, la fractura y la hipertrofia se abrazan y bailan la ronda, ningún otro estilo que no sea este podría funcionar. Esta suerte de barroquismo muscular, que llega a extremos grotescos marcados por Keisuke Itagaki y que, de a ratos, Daromeon rebasa, es un rasgo de identidad que hace de Kengan Ashura una experiencia visual inolvidable. Es la fascinación del horror en su máximo esplendor, como detener la mirada en las llamas de un incendio que devora una casa o la búsqueda de un cuerpo en un accidente automovilístico del que solo somos testigos casuales. • En resumen: este es un manga sobre destrozar el cuerpo ajeno a costa del propio. Recent Read: This Wonderful Season with You (Rated: Mature) Story and Art by Atsuko Yusen | Published by @tokyopop The Electronic Engineering Clubs best kept secret, Enoki is a nerdy stereotype complete with thick glasses and serious social awkwardness. While being forced to recruit new members he bumps into Shirataki a former member of the basketball club and basically his exact opposite. Shirataki needs a new club and the Electronic Engineering Club desperately needs more members so Enoki gladly welcomes such a cool ‘normie’ to join despite the club presidents reservations. The two form a deep friendship, that grows into something more. This is a super cute one-shot BL. I really liked this. Got to appreciate a good one-shot where it satisfactorily feels like a complete story that sure i would totally read a sequel but also it’s totally fine without it. The main characters are such sweethearts. And the other members of the Electronic Engineering Club and Shiratakis family and also very sweet. Love a cheesy trope like: no one knows who pretty they are till they take off their glasses and push back their hair - which is done well here, only drawing attention to it for a moment before moving on. A lovely read all round. Also let me say if it wasn’t for the mature extra at the end, this really could have just been rated teen and in this case i think that would have been better, the extra felt very tacked on and unnecessary imo. Raizo Hiraga geht nach vielen Jahren Polizeidienst in Pension aber der ruhige Lebensabend muss warten den seine Tochter und sein Enkel brauchen finanzielle Unterstützung. Als er schon kurz davor ist seine Organe zu verkaufen entdeckt er eine Anzeige die einfach viel zu gut Klingt um wahr zu sein. Als der ehemalige Personenschützer sich auf den Job bewirbt wird er überraschenderweise zum Handlanger einer elfjährigen Killerin ?! Ich muss gestehen das ich hier ein „Cover Opfer“ war aber auch die Story hatte sich zu gut angehört. Ich weis nicht genau was ich erwartet habe aber ich glaube irgendwie weniger Menschlichkeit ? 😅 Also versteht mich nicht falsch die Zeichnung sind genau meins aber irgendwie kam der rote Faden erst zum Schluss. Sonst hat man eigentlich nur gedacht das Sie Aufträge ab arbeitet ohne genaues Ziel und genau das hat mich etwas gestört das es erst erst zum Ende richtig klar wurde wieso weshalb usw. Ich bin mir absolut unschlüssig ob ich sie weiter sammeln will aber nach einiger Überlegung möchte ich wenigstens noch Teil 2 lesen. Kennt ihr die Reihe ? Wird sie noch besser ? Wie ist es bei euch entscheidet ihr euch schon nach Band 1 ob ihr die Reihe sammelt oder erst nach ein paar Bänden? The colors to this cover are just so pretty, I had to post it. 💓🤌🏼 Anyway, I'm Falling In Love With You reads like a Kdrama and certainly ticks all my boxes for a good shojo. The reason I compare this manga to a Kdrama is because it starts in the future with Mizuha as an adult who happens to see a group of teenagers on the street and begins to reminisce about her group of friends. The story then takes us back to 2020 at the start of the pandemic, and when the dynamic between Mizuha and her friends begins to change when one of them confesses to her. Here's my reading log for last week. I read all of Beyond The Clouds. It was a really cute, heartwarming slice of life. I really like the artwork in the series, it just got better as it went on. It's a really relaxing story and had a good ending. I really love the watercolor illustrations on the covers. It was interesting that its conception was included in the volumes, it having been a short story produced for conventions before eventually turning into this bigger, multi-volume story. I really enjoyed it. And I read some more X/1999 for book club. It once again felt really slow, like they drew out this whole prophesy, which side will he chose decision, without giving us much more content. It's only at the end of volume 9 that I feel like the story is ready to move on. I'm excited to see where the story goes because I've only seen the movie (way too many years ago) and while talking with book club we realized the movie came out as volume 8 was coming out, so everything from here on wasn't even available when the movie came out. Recent Read: The Flowers of Evil - complete editions vols 1-4 (Rated: Teen) Story & Art by Shuzo Oshimi | Published by Vertical Comics - imprint of @kodansha_en This series follows a lonely book loving teen struggling to find his identity through Baudelaire’s poetry. Alone in the classroom he tries to sneak a peak inside his crush’s gym bag but when he hears a noise, fearing he will be caught, snatches up the bag and runs. But someone saw him. A suspenseful, psychological-drama. This story is uncomfortable and intense but it’s a great read. The characters are very real, very human. Even with all of its intensity it expertly forms into a classic coming of age story, it even has a happy ending. I really enjoyed this series, especially the final stretch of the last 2 omnibus. It really has such a great resolution and after everything you have gone through reading it, that was a relief. It is a very quick read as there is minimal dialogue and lots of full pages of art. The art style is both simple and captivating, with the characters every expression driving the story. This was my first time reading Shuzo Oshimi and i understand now why people love his work. 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐇𝐀𝐔𝐋 𝐀𝐕𝐑𝐈𝐋 J’ai tellement tardé à faire ma photo que mon bouquet est tout défraîchi 😭 Mais passons ! Je vous retrouve pour le bilan de mes achats et réceptions de ce mois d’avril. J’ai acheté pas mal d’occasions (2nd photo) ce qui m’a permis de compléter pas mal de séries, 14 au total. J’ai aussi terminé les enfants de la mer que j’ai lu avec @mima_mangapassions a mais les séries terminées de ce mois-ci ne sont qu’au nombre de deux 🤭 C’est notamment avec toutes les réceptions de ce mois (dernière photo) que le total s’élève à 15 nouvelles séries, 2 one shot et 4 Light Novel dont les magnifiques tomes de chez @editions_bookmark avec le tome 3 de Mo Dao Zu Shi et le premier tome de scum vilain self-saving system dont les éditions sont sublimes et dont je ne regrette aucunement l’acquisition ! Äußerlich ein Mädchen innerlich ein Junge . Hier geht es um den Trans-Jungen Ryo der sehr stark mit seiner Geschlechtsidentität kämpft und er hat es einfach so satt in der Schule Rock tragen zu müssen (Schuluniform). Eines Tages kommt sitzenbleiber Jin in seine Klasse und er ist das genaue Gegenteil von Ryo. Am Tag darauf kommt er zu Ryo und fragt ob die beiden nicht ein Label gründen wollen ? Ich glaube ihr könnt euch schon denken warum mir das hier sehr am Herzen liegt 🏳️⚧️⚧️. Der Anfang hat mich etwas fertigt gemacht da ich die Probleme zu sehr gefühlt habe und es einfach verstanden habe wie es ist . Gleichzeitig finde ich es toll das zu sehen ist wie es Ryo innerlich geht und das es alles andere als einfach ist ! Als Jin dann mit dazu kam war ich erst etwas skeptisch aber das hat sich dan in Luft aufgelöst und ich finde es spitze wie er damit umgeht. Recent Read: Bungo Stray Dogs Beast - Vols 1-4 complete (Rated: Older Teen) Manga adaptation of the Light novel. Story by Kafka Asagiri & Art by Shiwasu Hoshikawa. Character Design by Sango Harukawa. Published by @yenpress I would not go into this as your first taste of BSD, it would still be good but would be far less impactful and you would probably feel like you’re missing something. So i highly recommend this to people who have read or watched the regular BSD series. - if you have read only the BSD manga you will also want to read the Dark Era light novel before Beast but the anime adapts this in s2 so if watched your good to go. I love the regular BSD manga art style but Hoshikawa’s style is so cool and different, it definitely brings the drama! This is an alternate universe take on the original story of BSD where instead Akutagawa joined the Armed Detective Agency and Atsushi was taken in by the Port Mafia. Oda is a member of the ADA and Dazai is the head of the PM. BSD is a pretty heartbreaking story because the majority of its characters are deeply tragic and, i think it’s far to say, with Beast even more so. I’m sensitive so manga, books and anime get me tearing up all the time 🥲 but it is less often that they get me actually sobbing and i was SOBBING. What have you been reading lately? The last few books I read have been: ~Dandadan volume 6 ~Dungeon People volume 1 ~Kneel Before Zod issue 1 •Dandadan is such a hilarious manga. At the end of volume 5 we were left with Jiji being taken over by that creepy spirit in white undies while Okarun and Ayase are underground fighting off the worm. He goes on a rampage and attacks Ayase, and long story short with no spoilers, it was a wild ride and the way they escaped and finished that arc was anything but expected. Which is why I love this manga so much. It always blends good action with hilarious comedy and good art. •Kneel Before Zod is the first time General Dru-Zod, long time villain of Superman gets his own solo series. I'm unsure if this takes place within the main universe of DC's convoluted continuity, I just know it was a little mid. I expected more, but maybe it's just a slow burn. We see Zod trying to build his own planet, that's the gist of the story. At one point, his son, Lor-Zod speaks out of turn and his disciplined is exile. Then some aliens attack and General Zod deals with them in Kryptonian. Apparently, this draws the eye of the Guardians of the Universe. So that's interesting. I don't know if I'll pick this up again or not, but I hope it gets better. •Dungeon People is a cute little story that I made a post about before. It's about a girl looking for her dad in a world where people enter dungeons for loot. Like a video game. But this is their real life. Funny thing though, is that the dungeons are just a job. The monsters clock in like it's a 9 to 5, which is what drew me to pick this up at Barnes & Noble one time. The main girl, a rogue, ends up working for the dungeon in order to find her father. It's got a neat art style, and I do already own volume 2, so we'll see where this goes. What about you? ✨️ Manga Read: Lord Hades's Ruthless Marriage vol 1 ✨️ This read was not what I expected it to be in a good way. I love Greek mythology, and since Lore Olympus is sadly coming to an end soon, I figured I'd get my fix through this series. And I'm glad I did because it was so funny! Basically, Hades has been shot by Eros' love arrow, and he will fall in love with the first person he lays his eyes on. Lord Hades is dead set on not getting married or falling in love, but then a fair maiden falls onto his lap while his blindfold is off! Oops! This story is so funny from beginning to end, especially Thanatos and Hypnos. Also, the art is stunning! I mean, look at Hades!! I've already picked up vol 2, and I'm excited to see what develops between Hades and the maiden. Here's my reading log for last week. I've been saving up some Drifting Dragons for a while cause I love it and I can't just read one volume. I absolutely adore this series. Ghibli-like artwork, an adventure slice of life with dragons and food themes. All of my favorites. If anything, I read through this series too fast, I just want more. A lot of people said the beginning was slow, and honestly I can't remember enough to say if I felt that way as well, but I'm loving every volume that is coming out and I can't wait to save up another few books to read more. X/1999 is kind of what I wanted from Tokyo Babylon. Actually, it has a lot of feels of RGVeda so far, and I'm really here for it. It's definitely kicked it up a notch in terms of violence and showing it. Tokyo Babylon had some violence in it, but they'd talk about it, not show it. X shows it. That said, I feel like it's starting slow. They talk about the prophecy multiple times, everyone's just bothering Kamui about being 'the one', but it feels like they're just repeating themselves without moving the plot forward enough. Recent Read: Seaside Stranger - vol 6 (Rated: Older Teen) Story & Art by Kii Kanna | Published by @sevenseasentertainment BL slice of life series, about Shun & Mio, two guys originally living on a small island where they met. Over the course of the story they move off the island and in with Shuns parents. The change in lifestyle caused them to get stuck in a rut in both their relationship and their lives for quite a while. So in this volume, thanks to an accident, they finally move out but not back to the island, to Tokyo where Shun used to live. The art style is very cute and fun. I love how really the characters just want a nice slow pace of life, especially Shun. My vote is that they move back to the island. I enjoy this series and am interested to see whats next for these 2. Als er erfährt das der große Ichiro Rorario di Maria lebt hofft er durch dessen „Macht des Exorzismus“ sterben zu können. Noch ein Problem ? Ja Maria hat diese Macht noch nicht erlangt also bleibt Bloddy Mary nichts anderes übrig als an seiner Seite auszuharren und auf den Tod zu warten … Warum bin ich bitte von solchen Storys immer gleich so begeistert? 😅😍 Die Story gab mir ein bisschen Vampire Knight Vibes und die Reihe mochte ich ja schon und dazu kommt noch es geht hier um Vampire also 😏😍. Amigos, amigas, estaba equivocado. El crossover entre Baki y Kengan Ashura es más obvio de lo que pensaba y, a la vez, me parece una genialidad. No es un "peleamos y después nos aliamos", sino un enfrentamiento entre facciones. Por un lado la Asociación Kengan y por el otro los representantes de Tokugawa. • Y es hermoso todo lo que se ve en el tráiler. Shadows House volumes 5 & 6. Read April '24. Still fantastic! Meticulously planned intrigue and mystery with loads of interesting attention to detail, and a splash of horror. Can't wait for more. Previously, I had found that volume 4 was a bit heavy on cramming in 'tell'-style exposition rather than showing us that information in ways that felt more natural. The balance was restored in these volumes though. With vol. 6 we're nearing the end of what the second season of the anime covered so pretty soon we'll be onto new material, which is exciting! Oh no, I almost forgot to post this week! Here's my wrap up for last week. Real Bout High School went from silly fun battles to a more serious (but still coming from silly) plot rather quickly. Our MC is tasked, being one of the best in the city, to make a force to go out and stop all of the unruly gangs. I really liked her group. In not much time they set up the new plot, gave backstory to all of those characters, make you care about them, and then wrap up the story nicely. They did in 3 volumes what some series can't manage to do in 10+. While still not necessarily a memorable plot, I really enjoyed reading this series. Necromance was getting really good and then I noticed as I was reading the 5th volume, there's no way they can wrap up all of these plot points in one volume. It got cancelled. How?! It was good. And compared to all of the trashy isekai's out there, why did this one get hit with the axe? There is a page at the end where the author says she had a lot more planned, and you can tell because the story had a ton of good plot threads started. They said they might continue the story on their website, but that was years ago and I can't find anything. Super sad about that. Tokyo Bablyon was interesting. It starts more like a slice-of-life, shoujo romance thing (but is it really? Hokuto just tries to get Subaru with Seishiro constantly and Seishiro is just constantly teasing Subaru but it never really feels more than that), and then it shifts into Subaru's occult work and flashbacks to memories within dreams and becomes more of a mystery plot. For all of the lead up around the missing part of the dream, it's very clear what the answer is early on in the series because it's foreshadowed so heavily. It made the ending fall flat for me, I also don't understand how the ending affects the plot. That said, I still enjoyed it enough - the art is beautiful and it reads fast. April Haul Everything I got in April 2024. Swipe to the last pic to see the used manga & light novels i got in April (only forgot to include 1 used vol which was Noragami vol 25) Manga 48 volumes (7 used) Danmei 4 volumes Light Novels 4 volumes (3 used) For once i almost stuck to my monthly budget though it doesn’t look like that cuz a cheeky over budget order that i snuck in at the end of March is included in this haul as it arrived in April. But i was very good and resisted that temptation at the end of April and waited to place an order until yesterday 😅 so (technically) anything else i might order this month will be over budget and there are some things coming out closer to the end of the month that i want…but they will prob end up being Junes problem so lets not think about that now. Something about me is i generally do not preorder manga/books & always remember i do not pay full price for manga/books cuz SciFier exists and their prices are €4-7 less than in the highstreet bookshops pluss 5% discount code so really i would be losing money if i didn’t buy them all, right? Recent read: Boruto - vol 19 Only 1 more volume to go for Boruto part 1! I believe Vol 20 will be out in September. Then we will be getting into part 2 Boruto Two Blue Vortex 💙 Im so hyped! Naruto will always be my number 1 series. It has been a huge part of my life for over 20 years. It wasn’t my first anime or manga but being something that was publishing and airing for so long it means the most to me. I grew up with Naruto, literally as he aged so did i and me and bro (naruto) are in our 30s now and now he has kids, how am i not supposed to love his kids?! The joy i felt when Boruto began, a continuation of my favourite series, seeing a new life stage of my favourite characters and the lives of the next generation! There is this weird need to defend Boruto because it is highly underrated and gets unfairly hated on for literally no reason and little argument. But i have never seen an actual lifer Naruto fan hate on it. People will say read the manga never mind the anime and thats fine go for it but imo you will be missing out on a really great anime. Does the anime have a lot of filler? Yes, but its good filler that adds to the story and character development. If you hate the idea of filler just read the manga but i think the manga is lacking a little when compared to the anime. Like Mitsuki and Sarada are much better fleshed out the anime imo and they are an important characters, members of the new team 7! I also really appreciate the filler episodes that focus on the other teams, explaining their powers etc. also the anime adapts some of the light novels as ‘filler’ so imo thats not filler. Anyway!
