⚔️MAAS MADNESS UPDATE⚔️ Let’s pretend this didn’t take me almost a month to post 🫵🏻 If you’re following along I planned to read the SJM universe in March are previously reading ACOTAR & ACOMAF and never picking up the rest. It did not go to plan BUT I did *try* all 3 series! I finished all published books in ACOTAR (i do have a post further down with ratings for each book), I read the first 4/8 Throne of Glass books before throwing in the towel I still tried to dive into Crescent City but DNF’d book 1. 🥴 Anyway if you’re a SJM stan you probably won’t like this but I want the portion of my life spent reading these books returned to me pleaaaaase 😫 Across all 3 series, I came to realise the author has maybe 5-6 character templates that she just chops and changes small details to replicate them. Are they good characters? Some of them, sure, but even if they feel original to start with their is so little distinction between some of them that I got tired SO QUICK. If you’ve read any SJM I don’t need to tell how repetitive it is, there were a lot of things I didn’t like but this is what made me quit ultimately. Someone needs to send her a thesaurus because her vocab is 🤏 this big. See: roaring, growling, picking at shirt/nails, toes curling, obscene gestures, etc. etc. etc. Overall were the first three books in ACOTAR a good time? For sure. Could any other fantasy author have written it better? Well 🫣 Also this update is for everyone who told me I would LOVE tog 🫵🏻 Anyway let me know the last series you read & what you thought of it! 🗣️

This is a mom’s pov telling her daughters the story of how she found herself in the acting world in her twenties and a romance that she had with someone who went on to become a very famous actor. The present day portion takes place on their cherry orchard in Michigan which is so adorable. I felt like I was one of her daughters listening to her and loved it. 📣 Indie Bookstore Day 📣 I had a great time today celebrating Indie Bookstore Day with a Minneapolis book crawl, collecting stamps as we went! I made it to nine amazing indie bookstores today (and the past few days): @thinkingspotus - this was my first stop on Wednesday. This shop focuses on science and education, so I was excited to look through their sci-fi and nonfiction selections! This was such a cute shop, and they host some cool events! @creamandamber - I love this cafe and bookshop! It’s a great environment to meet up with a friend or get some work done while surrounded by books. @magersandquinn - I hadn’t been here before, but it’s a staple in the MN indie bookstore scene! I was amazed at the amount of different books here. If you’re looking for something specific or a little bit of everything, you can find it here! @milkweed_books - A cute little bookshop from Milkweed Editions in the Open Book space! They adjourn a cute cafe with some tasty-looking treats, as well as another shop. @babycakesbooks - An adorable bookmobile featuring children’s and young adult books, this was bringing all the bookmobile nostalgia, and was such a fun place for kids to explore. Plus, the owner was super sweet! @moonpalacebooks - We found so many good books here, but we also really enjoyed looking through some of the funny stickers and puzzles! @dreamhavenbooks - A bookstore specializing in sci-fi, fantasy, horror, comics and graphic novels. I could’ve spent a lot more time looking through here. Guess I’ll have to go back! As a bonus, they had some signed T. Kingfisher books! @tropesandtrifles - Minneapolis’s brand new romance bookstore! I’ve been so excited to get here, and they have a great location next to a bakery and some other cool-lookinbtg businesses! @onceuponacrimebooks - Our final stop. Modern Greek poetry, biblical retellings, Oedipus and Antigone, and more… Happy Independent Bookstore Day! I went a little harder than I was anticipating… I bought 17 books! I knew when my friend and I decided to take a short trip down to Kingston, NY that I’d splurge a little, but because we only planned on visiting 2 bookstores I was thinking I’d leave with 10 altogether. Oops! The books on the second slide are from Rough Draft Bar & Books, and the books on the third and fourth slides are from Half Moon Books! I didn’t think I’d buy as many from Rough Draft because I prefer used bookstores, but they had a great selection! I was very happy to see Apostol! And Half Moon… my new beloved 😍 Nothing beats a good used bookstore! Last slide is me yapping about all my finds to my friend 😂

But Sarah really went for it this time. Was I clutching my pearls? No. But was I asking how they had the energy to bang all the time during all that training? Yes. Yes I was. Also, Nesta being besties with the Casita from Encanto was not something I had on my bingo card but, I didn’t hate it! Overall, I liked it. I loved the sisterhood. The badass women, the camaraderie. 📚 My Melbourne Book Purchases! 📚 I absolutely LOVED searching through lots of Melbourne book shops while I was there on holiday recently and ended up coming away with some great books! I bought How to Solve your own Murder from the glorious @hillofcontent (which was my fave bookshop) and have already finished this one! ❤️ I bought Jaded from Readings in Carlton and the others I found at the second hand book stalls at the Queen Victoria Market! All fantastic finds and I can’t wait to get stuck in to them all!
