Then, get ready to join an anticipated crowd of 4,000+ fans for the 2024 Baja SAE Williamsport event on May 18th and 19th at Pennsylvania College of Technologyโs Heavy Construction Equipment Operations Site: 782 Fritz Station Road, Montgomery. This international event will showcase 108 collegiate teams and 1,000 participants from 34 states, Canada, and Brazil, each with a single-seat car designed for intense performance tests including hill climb, maneuverability, suspension, traction, and a four-hour endurance race. Otto Bookstore ~America's Oldest Independently Owned Bookstore~ This was one of my "must visit" locations during my vacation, for obvious reasons. As soon as you enter the store, you can feel the respect and love the owners have for books, the stories, and the magic of reading. I did some local Northern PA bookstore exploring yesterday! Thereโs just something so magical about a small town bookstore, and a gorgeous library with a Cathedral ceiling. Personally, I had no idea we had Americaโs oldest independent bookstore so close to home!! If you look closely you can see me creepin in one of the bookstore signs ๐ BLURB: Cussy Carter is a one of the last living blue skinned peopleiving in Appalachiaโฆ but sheโs so much more too. Sheโs a girl determined to participate in the Pack Horse book project, sheโs a girl set on love and acceptance, sheโs a girl stronger than she knows. Loved this book for the historical elements, and touching upon a real life topic I knew little about. This is for sure a womenโs fiction with hints of romance. My major complaint was the unsatisfying endingโฆ but I wonโt spoil that. Romance aside, this was powerful and immersive! Heat Level: ๐ฅ

What have you missed most during the pandemic? Iโve missed seeing my friends! Six years ago, 2 of my best friends visited me at a local bookstore during a book signing. The years have flown byโexcept for 2020, which trudged past at a miserable pace. My friend Cindy (on the right) passed away a few months ago, so I get to continue to miss her until we meet again in heaven. Last week we were honored to receive fourteen BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) books for our residents of Ashler Manor from the Junior League of Williamsport. In February, members of the Junior League raised money within their membership by participating in an educational learning project focused around Black History month. With the money they raised through this project, they purchased books suggested by LaTricia Scutching, JLW member and Ashler Manor staff that the residents would enjoy as part of their library. Christine Johnson, a member of the JLW stopped by to deliver the books to the residents. We would like to thank the Junior League of Williamsport for their kindness in supporting our girls and providing the books for them. Winter has its grip on central Pennsylvania, but the other day our friend, customer, and go-to fly fishing expert, Joe Radley and I were chatting hither and yon when I mentioned how magical I found headwaters to be. He shared a story about one of his special places in a small headwater stream and the small brook trout to be found there. The images he conjured up were vivid and warm. I said to him, โIโm going to hold that image all day.โ That image is still with me, with its promise of a warmer time. I love and prefer winter, but it feels really good to visit that image.
