I harkened back to my teen years in Panama City with this painting. Skipping school to go to the beach (sorry, mom), flirting with the lifeguards, wearing bikinis as if they were daily uniforms, and hearing Jimmy Buffet on constant rotation. A buddy and I even made it onto a MTV Spring Break show. Unfortunately, my kids were mortified when I told them that story. I thought they’d be impressed that their mom was once cool. We were so excited to see moe, but lightening canceled the outdoor concert just as it began. Then rain dumped on us all night as we bounced from bar to bar. But that night exploring Nashville’s vibrant music scene (during what seemed like a monsoon) will forever be one of our favorites. The Honky Tonk Women collection is inspired by that night. Dancing to live music at dive bars, drinking cheap beer, and laughing harder than I probably ever have in life.It was honky tonk magic. Congrats to AGA artist @astutesmanart , who was recognized by the @appalachian_pastel_society International Show! More than 200 artists submitted more than 600 entries to the show. Internationally renowned artist @nanciekingmertz was the juror. From the 600+ entries, she selected 104 pieces - including two of Andrea’s!
