It is with great sadness that I report the passing tonight of our amazing mom, Cheryl Hirni. For the past few months, cancer has fiercely ravaged our mom’s body. Our mom is a fighter, and she battled this cancer with all her might. Today, her fight ended. She is now in heaven, pain-free, smiling down on us. We did it! Our first PanCan PurpleStride Walk in the books. So many things to be thankful for. We had over 30 people come out to walk for Team Toke. There’s so much I want to say and so much I wish people could understand about grief. Some days are just hard, and I have to pretend I’m fine. So as a coach, you want the best for your kids, obviously. I invited my Baseball guys ( I am the Varsity pitching coach at West Hills for those who didn’t know) down to the celebration of champions today and the ones that could show up did. I wanted them to see what this event was and show them a little bit about what I do in my spare time away from the baseball field, which is volunteer and work with kids that are affected by cancer. Not only did they show up they actually got involved and participated and ran a lap with a kid who was fighting cancer. I have to say this is a very proud moment as a coach for me and they were kind of awarded as well. They got to meet the king of all things. @tatis !
