Little Leonie and her mother have taken a trip to the big city and Leonie has decided to be a brave lion in those big wide streets. This is Mimi During Riley’s journey I found comfort in music. I would often hear the “right” song at the “right” time on the radio. I listened to His Radio Station for many years. They play many songs that remind me of Riley and her journey. A few months ago they recorded a message from Riley’s Mama. I hear it often on the radio. Here is the link to the recording. https://txt.so/oeoPZu One of my favorite songs is Believe for It, by CeCe Winans. She sings it with power and passion. Last spring CeCe sent me a voice recorded message. She sang part of the song and she put Riley’s name in it. I played it several times for Riley. I explained that CeCe is famous. Riley believed she was a famous artist. Riley said, “I’m famous just like CeCe, we’re the same”. Late one evening Riley, Olivia and Mama were at my house. We listened to CeCe’s message, and I sang along. I was kidding around with Riley telling her I’m going to be a famous singer. Technically I’m probably the worst singer in the world. I sound like a squeaky little child singing. Riley laughed and laughed and then she laughed some more. She woke up the next morning laughing. Riley’s Mama asked her what was so funny. Riley said, “Mimi’s singing”. Riley laughed for days. The videos were taken earlier that day, June 14, 2023. CeCe Winans will be in Greenville, SC on Wednesday, March 13th. It’s going to be a great concert. Mimi will definitely be there. Tickets are still available. If you live local you should try to go to her concert. You will definitely be blessed by her music. Last week I was listening to CeCe’s song, Believe for It. During the song tears filled my eyes as God spoke to my heart. I realized we got a miracle. Not the miracle we wanted, but we got a miracle. Riley’s legacy is a miracle. Riley impacted people around the world. She brought joy and laughter to many people. She helped children feel cozy and comfy with her mission of giving gifts. She helped animals in shelters. In my opinion Riley did more in her seven years than most adults. This is Mimi I haven’t posted in a while, because I lost my words. I miss Riley so much, and I talk about her every day. I went to her grave today. I was filled with a thousand feelings and emotions. The death of a child is not the “normal”. Parents should not out live a child, and grandparents should not out live a grandchild. Grief is hard, especially when it’s not in the so called “normal” timing. Meaning, someone that isn’t old. When I was 38 years old my first husband passed away. I grieved in many ways. My plans and dreams were shattered. I thought I had my life planned out. I thought we were going to grow old together. I tried to run from the pain. Not physically running, but emotionally and mentally running. It wasn’t easy becoming a widow at 38. I joined a widows group, but everyone was twice my age. I didn’t “fit” in. As time went by I started to feel depressed and full of sadness. Several months passed….. and I was visiting someone in the hospital. While I was there I met the volunteer coordinator. The following week I started volunteering at the hospital. I volunteered in the oncology unit and ICU. I was part of the NODA program. I thought I was “helping” others, but I think it helped me the most. Volunteering and doing something for others helped me in ways I didn’t anticipate. It restored my joy and gave me something to look forward to. I see that now with Olivia. She Loves to shop for the children in the hospital, and she Loves to shop for the animals in the shelter. Olivia is helping the children and animals. BUT I think the shopping is helping Olivia the most. It’s restoring her joy, and it gives her something to look forward to. We went shopping several times over the past few weeks, and she wants to shop again this weekend. I believe the shopping and giving is helping Olivia, just like volunteering at the hospital helped Mimi. Whippies update Please say a prayer for the Wild Whippies. She is only four years old, and she doesn’t understand Riley isn’t coming back. Last week she said “Mama, how many more sleeps until Riley comes home”. Here is a message from Riley’s Mama. This week was fall break for the girls. We took Olivia and Liliana on the first trip without there sister. Olivia talked about Riley a lot. She loves talking about her memories of Riley and what she would be doing or saying if she was still with us. It was a hard but sweet trip. We went to Dollywood and the girls loved it. Olivia brought Bob the monkey that would sit in Riley’s chair at school. She carried Bob every day and brought her up to every ride. It seemed like she was trying to have Riley be apart of the trip threw Bob. We were able to spend much needed quality time with the two girls. Adalynn stayed back and was watched by Riley’s best friend Tessa’s family. We are forever thankful they gave us the opportunity to spend with the girls. Olivia and I were walking and stopped looking at a piece of art that was for sale that a sweet lady had painted. Olivia and I both knew who it looked like. It was a painting of Jesus walking with a little girl. Olivia said “wow that’s Riley, she has brown hair and blue dress like Riley would wear.” We bought it and will cherish it forever. Right now Liliana and Olivia are doing okay. They miss there sister a lot! Liliana knows Riley is with Jesus and tells me Riley is going to school with Jesus, plays with Jesus, eats New York pizza with Jesus. Olivia is quieter about how she feels but talks about her a lot. Thank You to everyone that helped Whippies with her Make A Wish fundraiser. Together we raised $10,255 in memory and honor of our precious Riley Faith. Here is a message from Riley’s Dad. Thank you everyone for the generosity to give and helping us raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer. One out of five kids that are diagnosed with cancer will not survive. Make-A-Wish was such a blessing to our family. Riley was able to enjoy every part of her wish. She didn't look sick, she looked like a very healthy child. She lived her life to the fullest that week, she forgot about cancer and was just a kid! She was granted her wish when at the time covid was restricting most wishes. Riley's wish was granted because the cancer she battled, had such a poor prognosis, being stage four and very aggressive. Looking back now God had given us more time than I could ever imagined. I'm very grateful for the opportunity God gave us, the time to be with such a special little girl, my daughter, Riley faith. Riley was only seven but she had a old soul, she was way beyond her years. She taught so many people including myself so much in so little time. I'm truly grateful that we are able to keep Riley's name alive by giving to such great causes. We never get the same moment twice which is why life is so precious. Riley served her purpose in such a difficult world and difficult times. Everything I encountered I know there is a family that's getting good news and bad news today, that's looking for another treatment plan. Bob the monkey from the Monkey in my chair program stayed at Olivia’s house Sunday night. Olivia put one of Riley’s shirts on her and took her back to school on Monday. Bob the monkey is back in Riley’s old kindergarten class and she represents Riley. Riley’s teachers from last year are amazing. They still include the monkey in everything they do. They really cared about Riley and her family. During Riley’s journey I met some amazing people. I really wish Riley was here. I miss her noise and silliness. Yesterday I went to her grave. I told her about Olivia’s party. I received several messages about Riley’s parents. They miss Riley tremendously. I’m not going to share much about them right now. I want to respect their privacy. Thank you to everyone that came to Olivia’s birthday party. There were old friends, new friends, family, neighbors, Emit’s Petting zoo, Rocky Ridge Horse Rescue, and Fox Carolina News. The community came together to help Olivia celebrate her birthday. In the past we had big parties for Riley, but today was a big party just for Olivia. It’s really hard on the siblings that are left behind. Olivia turned 11 today. She is old enough to understand Riley isn’t coming back. One of Olivia’s biggest fears is that people will forget Riley. Riley was included in several ways today. One of Riley’s followers (Alyson Allen) made Olivia the cake she wanted. Stitch and a sloth 🦥 were on it. Riley’s kindergarten teachers came and they brought Bob the monkey. Bob is from the Monkey in my Chair program. Last year the monkey sat in Riley’s chair at school when she couldn’t be there. Traveling with our third oldest (second youngest) as we traveled to Miami for 24 hours for work purposes. This was some much needed bonding time. She got a chance to be a big girl this trip as oppose to her normally being monitored by her older siblings. This was our first time flying @southwestair and personally, it’s not a top fav. I don’t like that they don’t allow the families to board first like most airlines, knowing that families need extra help and time onboarding. This is important for parents of young ones, especially if you’re traveling with strollers and car seats. 😩😒 Overall this was a short trip but some bonding time that I appreciated. ❤️ #OliviaHope

Our school had a Zoom visit with wonderful Irish author Olivia Hope @oliviahopewrites today 🎉 Olivia told us all about what it’s like to be an author and where her inspiration comes from. Had the best weekend at @freedommusicfestivalaus 📣 Nothing better than singing my heart out with my little fam watching from the hill. Massive personal highlight for me was getting to play and sing with a team of gifted, Spirit-led musicians for an hour and a half on Sunday morning. Heaven on earth. It was an amazing time, I highly recommend making space in your schedule for Freedom Music Festival 2023!
