A common misconception about sensory play is that it is only for toddlers, when in reality, you can tailor the play to fit a wide variety of ages! One of our favourite ways to play, and what I recommend for older kids, is setting up a small habitat! I was inspired by @family.chananigans when I saw her snake habitat set up. I was excited to try out something similar with our new mixes. So today, I set up a pet turtle habitat and used: Realistic Rocks mix (I took out all the lima beans) Shimmering Seas Shimmering Seaweed + few hand painted pieces from Jurassic Jungle @folkmanispuppets Mini Turtle from @mymy.and.me shop! From not wanting to touch it at all, walking out, using a spoon to play with it to now burying his cars in oobleck. This tray was for him to find the sea creatures and name them. He got his cars involved as usual. I then set up 2 bowls, 1 for him to wash his toys and the one to put the washed toys. I was going to set up a space tray using this lovely mix I made for the space day ..... but Maya decided today is Xmas 🙄 We taught her how to use the CD player because we are boomers, and we had one already. Also, I like Radio 4, and Clasic FM was a life saver when Maya was a newborn to drown our her colic crying... Anyway, let's roll on today... She has complete control over the CD player and lots of tolerable kids' music CDs... I thought we had hidden the incredibly annoying Xmas CD she had... (I have nothing against Xmas songs, but this CD is so mellow and so annoying).... so it is not even fun sort of jingle bells songs.... So we have now entered the 5th hour of listening to it.
