This birthday was all about embracing EASE and JOY, with my intention set on moving gracefully in and out of each moment, free from pressure and the constraints of time, just really allowing for never-ending peace and calm. Amidst all the delightful laughter I got to experience, I cherished moments of stillness in the HOLY PAUSE, allowing myself to revel in the simple pleasure of birdsong during two nature walks and encountering three deer up close. Tapping into me and finding more of my authentic self has also lead me to diving more into culture. I took for granted the ability of having cultural familiarity not too far away from me. Growing up Haitian was different. I didn’t feel fully African American, and I definitely wasn’t white. I could relate to the immigrant story from a different vantage point in comparison to my Filipino, Italian, Irish, East Indian, Asian, and Latin friends. My best friend and I bonded on that shared commonality but I also envied how better ingrained he was to our culture while I was mostly on a path of assimilation and chameleon like behavior. It feels weird looking back and trying to understand myself now because I feel like I’ve crawled in and out of so many skins that I don’t really know who I am. I guess that’s while evenings like last night feel so special. I got to be in a Caribbean environment and hear about how Haitian culture and music was even effecting the party scenes and dancing in Panama of all places 😳🤯. There’s beverages made with Haitian liquors. While the presence of my people feels a lot smaller than back home, the vibe, the music, the culture, and the atmosphere reaches all the way here. A tiny island filled with extremely boisterous and passionate people are making their presence felt around the world and I am one of them. So a bit about me - I'm 40 and i live with my 2 daughters Mayze, 17 and Mia, 12. We live in a small village near Doncaster. So my business started in Covid times January 2021. I had previously had my own beauty salon which closed due to Covid and i just couldn't get my customers back. No one wanted to be out and I had to make the sad decision to close it down. So whilst trying to find my feet again i became an Avon lady and after spending hours writing on every book and form my name, number, website link etc not only did my arm hurt but i was bored. I came across stickers for my books on Ebay that had all that info on them so i ordered them. When they got here i looked at them and thought I could make those and that was the beginning of Stick With Sarah. I used them myself but then i started to offer them for sale and they were really popular. I went on to have more shape and size stickers and eventually moved on to also offer a range of business stationery. In the past few months ive also expanded to now offer wedding stationery and some wedding related bits as well. The name got changed about a year ago to show i did a whole range of stationery and not just stickers. I wanted to be self employed so that i had flexibility around my kids and their needs and also my health meant I couldn't do a 'proper' job. I'm here to help small businesses with their stationery needs. This can range from stickers, business cards and flyers to roller banners, logo tshirt transfers and more. If I know that when I show up fully as myself AND that it will not be met with shame, blame, or guilt - then it is easier to show up more fully 😊 Yes, yes, I know: this sounds like a chicken and egg situation: I can be authentic when it's safe to be or when it is safe then I can be authentic. But note that I say "it's easier to be authentic when...," the reality is that nothing is every truly "safe" so sometimes showing up with authenticity takes a bit of courage - the courage to show a bit of ourselves to the world and see how we are received. If we notice that the other person responds with warmth, openness, and acceptance then we can show up a bit more. If we notice that the other person responds with distance, judgement, or anger then we know it's safer to not show up as fully. Authenticity is not about showing up 100% ALL THE TIME, it's also about discernment: it's safe to show up more vs I wish I can show up more and now is not that time. It doesn't mean that we lie or put on a mask pretending to be someone else. Rather it's about how much can I show the other person who I can and then calibrating to show more or less as I continue to interact with that person. This morning, the full moon helped me focus for today's events. I must maintain composure during the trial, especially when the opposing party testifies. In 6 hours, I have my preliminary hearing where we'll argue the reasons for my arrest and the credibility of the witnesses. The judge will determine what evidence is admissible and could dismiss or reduce the charges. While the state usually wins these hearings, I have a surprise up my sleeve, if my lawyer allows it. for 18 months this is what my office looks like. Lol Without a doubt there is no way I lose this trial. I have a solid defense attorney but Unless of course its rigged. But I tried to believe the judge is fair and a jury will be fair. Everyone else involved. Oh yah. They crooked af. But don't worry I'm not going back to no prison. I worked too hard to get to where I am for some lying disgusting lowlife to think I will let her get away with what she did. Nope.
