Thankful for @jumiso_global for sending me my fave products (the cleanser & the snail mucin essence) plus they sent their new product that is about yo launch on May 3rd! I’ll leave some first impressions of these: 🤍 Pore purifying salicylic foaming cleanser - a non-stripping cleanser that lathers & cleans your skin well without drying your skin. I used this mostly at night and about 4x a week. If you have acne prone skin, this’ll be perfect! 🤍 Snail mucin 95 + peptide essence - new HG 🙌🏻, some snail mucin breaks me out but this one doesn’t! Also I noticed my skin heals faster whenever I have some occasional breakouts due to this! I always bring this with me & can be used either in the am or pm routine. 🤍 All day vitamin brightening & balancing serum - honestly one of the OG when it comes to an overall serum. 🤍 Snail mucin 88 + peptide facial cream - this is also a newly released product & I love it! Despite the texture it easily sinks into my sink! It doesn’t leave a tacky feeling nor texture too & layers well with sunscreen. My current MORNING ROUTINE ☀️ Long time no post regarding my routines, but here’s what I’m currently using in the morning. I do stick to products that works for me and just incorporated some new products that I am trying out. Toner pads - using the one from @imfrom_global , the licorice toner pads since I love the thickness and the overall effects on my skin. Which is less redness, fresh skin and a brighter skin tone. Serums - I layer two serums, one from the I’m from which is the licorice soothing ampoule, it’s so lightweight that it sinks in right through your skin. Second is the @bywishtrend blue oasis aloe hydrating serum for some added hydration since I like my skin to be highly hydrated when I used my oil-control foundation from maybelline. Moisturizer - @jumiso_global Snail mucin 88 + peptide facial cream is what I just incorporated and is currently trying out. I’m amazed with the texture since it’s sticky buuuuut sinks in well on the skin! And it doesn’t leave a tacky feeling! SPF - current favorite is from @bywishtrend pore smoothing bakuchiol sun stick, its velvety and works as a primer. It also has pore smoothing effects and skin texture improvements with continuous used. What are your new additions to your morning routine? I honestly can’t keep up with so many new releases! Let’s talk sun protection. There’s a reason you’ll see every (legitimate) content creator harping on about sunscreen. Beyond the very obvious C word. From a skincare perspective the sun is undoing all your hard work. All those exxy actives you’re layering on at night? Being undone by the light pollution and subsequent damage that’s inflicted by excessive sun exposure. From increasing the incidence of stubborn pigmentation, impacting your skin at the cellular level, increasing the rates of water loss; the list goes on. Proper sun protection as a daily routine goes a long way to mitigating a lot of the harmful effects. But it’s also important to note that it is not your only defence; shade, sun protective clothes, sunglasses, and smart sun practices are also imperative towards protecting yourself. In terms of finding an spf we are lucky to have access to exquisite options at every price point. My recommendation is to try different textures and finishes through buying on sale, until you find a type you like and then being loyal to that particular style of spf. The whole mineral vs chemical (or, more correctly, inorganic vs organic) spf does get blown out of proportion. Find one that you enjoy wearing. One is not affecting the reef more than the other, the biggest threat to the reef (and your skin) is the sun and global warming. My last piece of advice? Do not rely on the spf in your foundation. You are not applying enough to get the correct protection. You need a teaspoon for your face, neck and ears. And the same for each body part. And reapply! Always read the label. Follow the directions for use. Sunscreens are only one part of sun protection. Reapply every two hours. Prolonged sun exposure should be avoided. Wear protective clothing, hats, and eyewear when exposed to the sun. Seek shade. What’s your fave spf? Leave it in the comments!

Elf Skin Suntouchable! Whoa Glow SPF30 Sunscreen Review ☀ I’m such a sucker for an affordable sunscreen, so when @elfcosmeticsuk launched their Suntouchable Who Glow SPF30 last year, I had to pick it up to try it. This is a glowy sunscreen and makeup primer – exactly what you would expect from a brand whose focus is makeup. From the packaging, you could say that they were inspired by the Supergoop Glowscreen. I haven’t tried the Supergoop offering, so I can’t comment on whether it is or not. The Elf sunscreen will set you back £14 and the Supergoop £35, so quite a saving if it’s a successful skincare dupe. It comes in three shades – sunbeam, sunlight and sunburst. I opted for sunbeam, since this is the version I thought would suit my skin the most. Whilst it feels moisturising, it’s not enough for my very dry face to skip moisturiser. That being said, I’m not totally sure those with oily skin will love this either, because it can feel quite heavy. It’s also definitely not for you if you don’t like a dewy finish. It gives a nice glow to the skin that looks good without makeup, like a your-skin-but-better finish. I’d imagine it looks really nice under makeup, giving a nice dewy, highlighted base, but I can’t comment on this since I don’t wear it. The biggest issue I have with this is that it has a tendency to pill badly depending on what it’s layered with. Pilling is where a product doesn’t soak in properly, and it ends up balling into little particles that roll off your skin throughout the day. It’s possibly the worst thing because it feels like money down the drain, especially if you have used something expensive on your face. I therefore can only use this when I use a basic routine (cleanse, moisturise sunscreen). Whilst this helps, it doesn’t guarantee it won’t pill, so you also need to be careful what moisturiser you layer this with. Have you tried any of the Elf Sunscreens?

I adore what I call “maintenance serums”. To my mind these are serums which maintain the overall efficacy of your skin. Keeping your skin working at optimum efficiency in other words. These are serums which usually contain a light amount of antioxidant; to assist in defending the skin, plenty of hydrators; because hydrated skin functions optimally, and soothing agents; to keep everything playing happily together. What I like about these styles of products is that I can layer them effectively with stronger actives to achieve my skin goals, but I can also use them on my soothe nights to keep my skin happy and plugging along. A dual purpose? In a sense aha. Some of fave ingredients for this include copper peptides and biotics. Whilst the evidence for either isn’t perhaps as substantiated as others like vitamin a, b or c, in the years of incorporating them into my routine I’ve noticed marked improvement in my overall skin resilience and condition. These are a couple of my faves products for this: @biossance copper peptide and squalane serum combines the peptide content with a gorgeous squalane emulsion into a creamy, gel texture which is soothing and incredibly nourishing. @korres biotic serum has your biotic content in a milky base which prioritizes soothing and hydration. @avene tolerance control serum* is your skin maintenance mvp. In one of the most exciting launches of the year, @jurlique have officially expanded their Herbal Recovery line* into a nourishing powerhouse. Centered around a recovery blend of four botanicals: Holy Basil, Iris Root, Echinacea, and Black Elderflower, the line replenishes dry skin, defends the skin from environmental stressors, and soothes the skin. My first impression is that this is possibly the most considered launch I think I’ve seen from Jurlique in a while. They’ve really looked at the textures and ensured that the entire line is really enjoyable to use. The textures are beautiful; they soak into the skin without excessive grease, but still maintain a nourishing presence on the skin. Absolutely ideal for dry/combo, dry and mature skins. Let’s dive into the SKUs: The icon of the line is the recovery oil*. It’s a lightly textured oil with a herbal scent. Soaks into the skin gorgeously, leaves you glowing and soothed. Couple of drops pressed in, oof. A delight. The bi-phase serum* surprised me. In my experience it’s hard to get a nice bi-phase. It’s usually kinda like a 2 in 1 conditioner; doesn’t do either well. This is the opposite. Locks in hydration and nourishes at the same time. For eyes, you have two options. The eye roll on* and the eye cream*. You can use them together or separate. For dry under eyes you’d benefit from both, because the roll on disperses a light amount of oil to nourish, whilst the cream locks it in. It’s a mid weight eye cream so ok for day and night. To lock everything in, you have the moisturising cream*. Again, a mid weight, though for me this would be a night option only. @deviantskincare Gentle Resurfacing Liquid is such an elegant formulation,it ticks all the boxes for a good acid toner. This is a gentle toner with a mix of AHA’s (Mandelic, Lactic, Glycolic, Malic and Citric), BHA & PHA to exfoliate. I use it 2-3 times a week. It contributes to evening out the skin tone with the long term use. It also helps with reducing blemishes and appearance of pores. The tingle you get when applying at first, goes away and doesn’t irritate the skin. It may be a gentle formula but it is just as effective as stronger chemical exfoliants that I have used. I'm surprised I haven't tried much from @purito_official yet! They recently relaunched their Centella line with new packaging and I have to say they have done a good job since the older packaging was not very exciting. Thier Wonder Releaf Centella Cream (Scented) boasts to Rapidly Soothe the skin and is supposed to reduce redness. It's terribly hot here in India and being out in the sun does really lead for my face to heat up and get flustered. I used this to help cool and calm the skin, and I'm happy to say it does so! I do not mind fragrance in my skincare and this one has a very sweet and calming scent to it. Also appreciate the tube packaging which aids in quick application without having to dig in! I also want to highlight the added ingredients like Niacinamide and Ceramide NP which in turn help in barrier support and overall maintainence for the skin! While the texture looks and feels light, on the skin I found it to be a bit heavy initially which settles down and does not feel sticky! However, so often, lighter textured products can feel not the most elegant. They can also occasionally be more prone to pilling I find. So when I find good, light products, I of course I she’s to share! There are a few products from the @the_secret_skincare skincare line that I enjoy, but the oil cleanser* has to be up there with my like top two. It is a beautifully textured product that emulsifies instantly into a milk. It removes spf and makeup brilliantly, it’s also exquisite as a morning cleanse. You know I love an oil as an am wash! Astringent toners are traditionally quite harsh and drying on the skin, because they were designed to “dry out” pimples. Think the og witch hazel and clean and clear. Nowadays we have far more cosmetically brilliant options thankfully. The @gallineeskincare face vinegar is suitable for all skins, but oily persons will be most appreciative of its clarifying properties. A light humectant serum is perfect for literally everyone, and frankly should be layered into every routine you do. The @theordinary hyaluronic and multi peptide* serum is an excellent and accessible option. They’ve improved the texture of this one previously, and it’s even more enjoyable now! Gel moisturizers are a category that I find brands in general can struggle to get a good texture on. So often they have a bad dry down or pill. There are a couple of brands that really excel at experiential products. Intersecting spa like feels with good level of efficacy. @kitskinkind is one of those brands that’s been making a name in that realm. As a Mecca own brand they’ve really been carving out their niche, marking themselves as distinct from the other Mecca own brands, but still with that trademark exclusive touch. They’ve been steadily expanding out the range but a few of my faves are gathered here together. Let’s start with the Gua sha*. I am admittedly rather unreliable when it comes to tools. But I do like a cold metal or stone tool in the fridge to depuff my eyes when they’re puffy or feeling a bit sore. Just sensitive eye boy problems. You can also use it on the body of course (but they do have a body version too I believe). For face, the compatibility cleanser* is one of my faves from them. I’ve emptied a few before, it’s a gorg gel to oil to milk cleanser that smells herbal and fresh. You could use it to remove makeup, but I definitely prefer it as a skin or morning cleanser. Gently washes the skin without residue being left behind. The skin kind face oil* is one of my faves oils on the skin. It’s got that perfect blend of beautiful botanicals and nourishing lipids that I adore. If you’re easily sensitised you might want to avoid due to the botanical content, but if you’re not it’s delightful. It’s a good midweight texture, melts into the skin beautifully. You could also drop a bit into a moisturiser to make it feel more nourishing. Which brings me to the good night balm*. Recently reformulated, the update is much better. It avoids a lot of the stickiness and stringy texture of the old product. The new product feels cocooning and nourishing, without a dry textured finish. Decently emollient without being overly greasy on the skin. A good shout if you want to try a balm style product without a huge amount of expense. Have you tried Kit? 🪻Quick Thoughts: #Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner (pr) 🪻So I've actually loved the original version for many years as a reliable basic, but never got around to trying the unscented version (until now), even though it has been out for many years also. I didn't have an issue with the essential oils in the original, but I love that they listened to feedback and made an unscented version for those that wanted to avoid essential oils! 🪻It's full of great ingredients like beta glucan, licorice, centella, aloe, panthenol, copper tripeptide, SAP (gentle vit C derivative) and more, to keep skin hydrated and soothed, with some well-ageing thrown in. No fragrance, essential oils, alcohol. 🪻The texture is lightly viscous, and absorbs easily and quickly. It's perfect for the 7 skin method (repeated layers of hydrating toner) because it doesn't get heavy or sticky. Skin just feels deeply hydrated before my next steps. 🪻Layering enough hydrating toner is crucial for dry skin that feels tight easily! That has made the biggest difference to my skin. And because this sinks in so well, oily dehydrated skin would benefit from layering too, without needing to worry about a heavy, slick finish. What is the best routine for vitamin a? For me, gentle and sandwiching. Whilst it’s true that you’re probably not going to experience much irritation from a vitamin a that’s not via prescription; but I am of the opinion that gentle and often is preferable. Therefore I go for a nourishing routine that allows the vitamin a to do its work, but not compromise my skin integrity. To that end, starting with a gentle cleanse is a much. I was put onto the @chifure_official washable cold cream by @thebeautybloss and it’s honestly a spectacular shout. Possibly one of the best cream cleansers I’ve ever used. Nourishing, soothing, easy to remove, and fuss free. Plus a jumbo tub, I mean value! I got from Yesstyle, I’m not sure of any other legit stockists they have, but let me know in the comments! Next of course you have your retinal. @theordinary has released their newest and most upgraded formula. It’s the 0.2% retinal emulsion* and it is glorious. Texturally enjoyable, without a horrific chalky dry down. Being The Ordinary, it’s also accessible for a retinoid, and available at most pharmacies. This is rare for a retinoid with this level of textural elegance. I have a full review coming soon so these are my preliminary thoughts. But clearly I like it haha. I adore an oil as a nourishing accompaniment to a vitamin a; I find it protective and exquisite for my dry skin. The @sundayriley juno* is an absolute classic. It’s a thicker oil consistency, so If you’re picky about texture you may want another option, but I find this delightful. Incredibly soothing and nourishing. Brilliant for mature or dry skins. A balmy cream is perfect to lock in your routine, particularly if it’s a soothing and nourishing option like the @muradskincareaus intense recovery cream*. The extra nourishment not only helps to ensure that the retinoid can work to its best efficacy, but it also assists to mitigate any possible irritation should it occur. I find that the Murad gets super melty and protective on the skin, you need the tiniest amount. It doesn’t feel greasy, moreso just protective. Gorg. Have you tried any of these? Some first impressions of a few products new to my face. @pixibeauty are a brand that is excellent in many different categories. Cleansing oils, historically, to me, have not been among their strengths. The pink salt cleansing oil? Horrific. The EOD cleansing oil is a definite step up. It’s a non emulsifying cleanser so is quite nice to use with a cloth. Removes and destroys everything of course, and fragrance free. But texturally, this is a massive step up. The @meccacosmetica home brands are typically a bit of a slay, and the revitalizing hydration mask is an absolutely impeccable texture. It’s meant to be a wash off nourishing mask, I tend to leave it on as a sleeping mask as an intensive nourishing treat. It feels lipid rich and gorgeous on the skin, definitely suitable for a dry skin treat. Also would be great pre event for some glow! @jurlique are one of the few brands who I would trust to do rose-based products effectively. Their rose hand cream is glorious! The rare rose oil* is a beautiful, lightly textured oil that is scented with rose nicely. Perfect to prep the skin with glow and nourishment. This is light enough to be used in the day, particularly if it’s going to be cold to windy. I adore an essence lotion, and the @olehenriksen barrier boosting essence has surprised me tbh. Usually orange based products don’t tend to agree with me, but this my skin is loving. It’s milky and soothing and nourishing; but I’d still patch test if you’re easily sensitised. I am, what some in the industry might describe as, a cleanser fiend. It’s a scientific description you see. I adore cleansers. I adore the experience, I enjoy the textures, I enjoy the scents. Love it. Exploring the @drhauschka.aus cleansing line has been fun. There’s some I love, and there’s one that’s not for me. And that’s ok! The industry is demonstrably broad because not everyone’s skin is the same. I’m never going to like everything. The issue is when I find a product that I cannot see a gap which it could fill. Thankfully this rarely happens. The sku I’m not a fan of is the cleansing cream*. They call it a cream because the almond content in it emulsifies into a lotiony texture with water. To me it’s mislabeled. The almond meal and shell in the product stay intact enough to function as an abrasive. To me it’s a scrub; and within that category it performs well. But, as we know, I don’t love physical abrasives on my skin. I just don’t respond well to it. I think this would suit oilier skins, because of the clarifying content of the inci. Now, the cleansing milk* I adore! It’s soothing, calming and not stripping whatsoever. It’s perfect for all skins, a great multipurpose option. I’ve used up one of these previously and so I’m very happy to have it back in my stash! Kidney vetch, jojoba oil, sweet almond and apricot oils keep it nourishing. Alcohol lightens the formula, plus I suspect is used in the distilling for some of the plant extracts. Bentonite is there for a smidge of purifying. Lush. My other fave is the cleansing balm*. Again, multipurpose, and gorgeous as a skin cleanser or makeup/spf remover. Emulsifies into a milk instantly with water. Sunflower oil and glycerin base, calendula and birch leaf extracts, plus apricot, olive and peanut oils for extra nourishing capabilities. Again, one I’ve used up previously and adore using it again! #Jbeauty SPF review time! 🧜♀️ #BIOREUV ATHLIZM SKIN PROTECT MILK SPF50+ PA++++ 🧜♀️FILTERS: organic/inorganic hybrid (chemical + physical) 🧜♀️ALCOHOL: Yes (great for fast drying and a weightless finish, not great if you have a damaged barrier/very sensitive skin) 🧜♀️SCENT: Apparently white floral, but the eyewatering alcohol fumes that burn my eyes for the first 5 seconds also singe my nostrils to the point where I smell nothing else. If I sniff it in my hand (the puddle prior to applying), it does smell sweet. 🧜♀️TEXTURE: Milk 🧜♀️APPLICATION: Shake first. Runny milk, spreads easily, oily feel whilst applying. 🧜♀️DRY TIME + FINISH: Minimal skincare underneath = feels like absolutely nothing on, matte, no shine, crazy. With substantial skincare underneath = takes longer to dry, powdery matte, slight oiliness, but still weightless if that makes sense. Too much skincare underneath = weird oily powdery matte, you know the feel. Ultimately no shine/matte look, feels very smooth. 🧜♀️WHITECAST: Temporary but noticeable whitecast that settles/not noticeable after 15 minutes on my light skin. Not sure it will work on darker skintones due to the titanium oxide. 🧜♀️SPECIAL FEATURES: Super waterproof, with a 'tough boost tech' to be resistant to sweat, stuffiness (that's what Google translated, not sure what it means), abrasion, does not come off easily. Biore's 'unique durable outer skin', which is a thin uniform UV blocking film - like an outer skin. Tested to not come off easily in hot and humid conditions. Doubles as a makeup base. 🧜♀️NOTES: Tested instore on my non moisturised, lighter skin toned hand, was 10/10, dried in a flash and felt like absolutely nothing. Only noticed the whitecast when I used it on my face. I would not buy this again and instead, try the essence version, as apparently that has no whitecast and no oily feel, so, should be better! Always read the label and follow directions for use. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Sunscreen is only one part of sun protection so wear protective clothing, hat, eyewear. Apply and reapply as directed.

Picture it: Kenya, 2017. Dawn broaches over the safari camp. It’s your final morning before departure and the smell of dry grass, sand and some unidentifiable flower wafts into your tent. The coughing roar of a lion echoes in the distance, boding well for that mornings game drive. As you come-to you reconvene with the group around the morning fire. Resuscitated with coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice, you muse on the sightings to come. That’s what @maisoncrivelli Neroli Nasimba gives me. It’s the warmest scent I have in my collection I think. The leather base of it is particularly punchy; think like sun warmed aged leather, so you’ve got the woodiness of the scent in there. It combines uniquely with the citrussy floral of the orange blossom and neroli. The open is spicy pink pepper and cardamon; so really giving you that beautiful warm opening. It’s a unique mix to be honest. I’m glad I have it, but It’s almost I think too warm for me. I’m a cold lil snowdrop, what can I say! If you’re usually a gourmand or oud girlie and you’re fancying a change, I think you’ll really appreciate the warmth that this fragrance offers.
