When the swatches look good but the palette sucks 🫠 I have a soft spot for face palettes, but Doucce Posh Powder Palette was a miss for me. With so many amazing blush and highlighter formulas on the market, there’s just nothing special about this one. It was a bit difficult to swatch because the pans are all very chalky, but it was even harder to get the product on my brushes – the highlighters were particularly disappointing. The swatches might look good, but for the record, it took a lot of swipes and effort to make them look half-decent. There was one shade that I actually liked for color and performance – the bottom right one (it's giving NARS Orgasm), so I depotted it into a magnetic palette and tossed the rest. #BeGlamorable

✨Skin update after stopping and restarting tretinoin✨ Backstory: I used retinol as a preventative measure since my late 20s, then switched to corrective daily tretinoin 3 years ago. Honestly, tret gave me amazing results even though I already had good skin from all the previous care - my skin contour was more lifted, forehead and cheeks were tight and smooth, and fine lines all but disappeared. But as the time went by, I was more and more frustrated with the dryness, which is the most common side effect. Since my skin was in a constant state of renewal, I had a lot of miniscule dry flakes too. My makeup didn’t look quite right, my sunscreen kept sticking to those dry areas, and I had to use very rich moisturizers to keep the look of dryness to a minimum. The peeling never stopped but at least it was less noticeable. At one point I got fed up and stopped using tretinoin completely. I went back to products with retinol and retinal, but to be honest, I could tell that they are never going to give me the same results. After several months of going cold turkey, I started slowly reintroducing tret back into my routine, and finally arrived to my happy place: 2-3x a week seems to be the sweet spot for me personally. And I just use other Vitamin A derivatives on the rest of the days to keep the cell renewal process going, but maybe not quite as intensely as full-on daily tret. And guess what? I’m no longer experiencing excessive dryness and skin sensitivity, and I still love what I see in the mirror. Tretinoin may be the gold standard in skin care, but it’s definitely not for everyone. I’m just happy to have found a happy medium so I can continue reaping the benefits as I enter my 40s 🥰 Moral of the story: trust the process, but trust your skin more because sometimes the process isn’t processing. You essentially use them like you would regular cream eyeshadows. They blend beautifully and can be easily applied with fingers, oh, and best of all, these actually last on oily eyelids even without primer. You can actually use them as a primer for other eyeshadows to add more depth to your look and protect the skin from the sun! 💛My favorite shades are Daydream (pink) and Sunset (bronze). ✨Just finished my old eye cream and decided to try Contour Restore Firming Moisture Balm For Eyes that @StriVectin gifted me about a month ago, so here are my first impressions so far. 🌟Very emollient. It may look like a cream in the jar, but definitely feels more like a balm on the skin. 🌟Doesn’t fully absorb. Can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your skin type. I think it helps the area stay moisturized for longer vs a product that fully absorbs. 🌟Moisturizing. Tentative from the point above, this balm actually keeps my skin well-moisturized. If I put it on at night, I wake up with product still on my face. 🌟Elasticizing. I think my skin looks and feels more elastic, if that’s even a thing? Smile and squint lines bounce back faster. 🌟Plumping. I think since it helps preserve moisture in the skin, the lines look less prominent and more plump. 🌟Fragrance-free. This physical sunscreen features Zinc Oxide 15.45% as an active ingredient, as well as cannabidiol and a combination of soothing & antioxidant-rich botanical extracts. It has a very runny, milky consistency and smooth, slightly slippery texture that helps the product go on evenly and without streaks, with a nice matte finish. 🍇✨Premier Cru is my mom's favorite line by @Caudalie and she frequently raves about these products. #caudalieusgiftedme This month I'm also treating my skin to a full Premier Cru routine, which I received complimentary from Caudalie US. Thoughts so far: - The moisturizer formula is beautiful! It makes my skin feel so plump and resilient! Definitely a keeper in my routine. - The serum is a hit and a miss. The ingredients look promising, but I find that the formula clashes with some of my other products, making them flake off. - The eye cream was a surprising discovery. The metal tip applicator has a very unique shape and it gets so cold, it almost "shocks" the puffiness off of my eyes each morning. Normally I would never do that, but I figured my face won't melt off overnight from using the wrong cleanser once. ✨@dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 is one of my favorites, so I'm glad I had a mini tube to bring along. It does a double duty of protecting the skin with strong UV filters and the formula is infused with skin-loving antioxidants and peptides. ✨@DrRoebucks Hydrating Face Moisturizer is my nighttime treatment. I only had a couple squeezes left in the tube so I thought I'd finish it on this trip. This one is very soothing and makes my skin feel very soft and comfortable. 🌞SPF besties: shade & sunscreen😎 #MDSolarSciencesgiftedme Sunscreen sticks are super convenient to have on hand for touch ups, but I find them a bit drying. Not the case with @mdsolarsciences SPF Solar Sticks! The formula is infused with moisturizing ingredients and feels like a creamy lotion on the skin, which is very unusual for stick sunscreens. These come in two varieties - tinted and untinted - and provide physical SPF40. The untinted stick leaves a slight pinkish cast on the skin, while the tinted version blends in seamlessly and helps even out the skin tone. I’d say, these are best suited for someone with normal to dry skin. Now, if you are more on the oily side, Tinted Mineral BB Crème SPF50 might be worth checking out. It comes in three shades and feels like a smoothing primer. It doesn’t give the coverage a foundation would, but the finish is very skin-like and wears comfortably for hours - sometimes my skin gets itchy from sunscreen toward the end of the day, but so far I didn’t have any issues with these and other MD Solar Sciences sunblocks I tried in the past.
