At least nine people have been killed and many others were wounded in an Israeli strike on an aid distribution truck in Deir el-Balah, the Wafa news agency reports. A witness who did not give his name told Al Jazeera that he was on his way to a water well on Sunday when the area was “showered with missiles, shrapnel flying around, body parts in the air”. “This truck was carrying relief aid, with civilian volunteers on board. In 2003, the world was appalled by mass atrocities in Sudan's Darfur region, leading to accusations of genocide against President Omar al-Bashir and his Janjaweed militia. While the United Nations eventually dispatched troops to protect civilians, the response was criticized for being too slow. Today, Darfur is once again a theater of war, with atrocities echoing those of the past. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), successors to the Janjaweed, are wreaking havoc on Darfuri communities, committing acts of killing, rape, and looting. The international response has been sluggish, despite the direct connection between the current crisis and the first Darfur tragedy, which gave rise to the RSF and its leader, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagolo, known as Hemedti. Hemedti, a former junior Janjaweed commander, played a pivotal role in the RSF's emergence. The RSF, now with a fighting capacity equal to the official Sudanese Armed Forces, was involved in the overthrow of Bashir in 2019. The uneasy partnership between the military and civilian government disintegrated, leading to a military coup in October 2021. The focus on resolving the conflict in Khartoum has overshadowed the dire situation in Darfur, where the RSF is reigniting its campaign of ethnic cleansing. The first Darfur crisis in 2003 had multiple causes, including geographical, ethnic, and political factors. Darfur's neglect, exacerbated by drought, fueled ethnic conflicts among various groups. The overspill of the Chadian civil war and Sudanese national politics further contributed to the rebellion and its brutal suppression. Twenty-five people were killed and 20 injured when Ukrainian forces shelled the Russian-controlled city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, Denis Pushilin, the Russian-appointed head of the Donetsk region, said on Sunday. I condemn the terrorist attacks on civilians in #Israel. The international community has to take decisive steps to combat terrorism and bring down the terrorist organizations like #Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and IRGC who continually threaten Israel’s existence, endangering civilians and destabilizing regional peace. There is no legitimate justification or reasonable basis for the actions of the Hamas terrorist group. International law explicitly prohibits such terrorist attacks. Hamas consistently breaches international law and infringes upon the basic human rights of people residing in the region. Regrettably, thousands have been killed, injured, or held hostage, and supporters of Hamas are celebrating the death of civilians and promoting hate and terror crimes. Hamas has committed these atrocity crimes with support from the Iranian regime’s IRGC. It is paramount for the West to sever ties with the oppressive Iranian regime to promote peace and freedom in Iran and the region and to challenge Hamas and Hezbollah and their supporters around the globe. I met this man in Artsakh, back in 2017, and he told me how he once stood in Berlin, fighting Hitlers Nazireich, and how war was always part of his life. And how he wished for his grandchildren to be able to live in peace in Artsakh. After the early nineties war and the ongoing conflict between Azerbaijan and Artsakh he was tired of the sound of guns. We are deeply saddened by the news of missile attacks on residential areas in Barda, Republic of Azerbaijan. The International Board and Staff of the Eurasian Regional Center of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF-ERC) strongly condemns the deliberate missile attacks (with the banned "Smerch" MLRS) by the military forces of Armenia against the civilian settlements of Azerbaijan, including the shelling of the city of Barda on 27-28 October 2020. As a result of the heinous and inhumane acts, at least 25 civilians, including kids were killed and more than 60 civilians were injured. These heinous attacks on innocent civilians constitute crime against humanity and war crime in accordance with the international law, including Geneva Convention. The villages of Naushera are usually calm. In the distance, the mountains of the Pir Panjal slope down to vast forests on one side and quiet fields on the other. But residents will tell you about the whirring sounds that suddenly fill the silence. Within seconds, deafening explosions will be caused by mortar shells emerging from the mountains that turn the villages into a battlefield. Just two weeks ago, mortar shells missed Ganaya village, close to the Line of Control and well within the range of Pakistani guns. In the village, houses still bear cracks and shrapnel marks. New bomb shelters are being built by the district administration as ceasefire violations spike on the Line of Control.
