High Tail to Ale 5k with my @downtowndetroitrunners family and my kiddos, who never met a dirt parking lot they didn’t like 🙄 I still get nervous before every race, and I get euphoric when I run well. Apparently this is a great thing to teach our kids - it is okay to feel uncomfortable before doing something that seems scary - and when you get through it you build competence and self confidence. So I shared with Finn that I was nervous today because I have been training harder and my race may not go well and that’s okay. I don’t always hit the times I am hoping for, but I don’t give up either. Sometimes I don’t know how I’m gonna feel until the gun goes off and I just go. I am proud of myself every time I go out there and push hard, even when my body is tired or I’m sick or I didn’t get enough sleep and it doesn’t go as well as hoped. Life is life, especially with kids. I also know I get better each time I try, so this is my 3rd 5k this season and the best yet.
