Unsere heutige Route führte uns zuerst zu den Bonneville Salt Flats. Mango durfte wegen dem hohen Salzgehalt und seinen Pfoten jedoch nicht auf den See. Wir müssen ihm da noch Schuhe kaufen. The runners were received in a cultural style by the Ooni of Ife, HIM, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja the 2ND) and the good people of Ile-ife. . . Different awards were given to runners that performed exceptionally well and medals were given to all runners that finished the race. . . The Ooni of Ife thanked the runners for coming to Ile-ife for participating in the Marathon, HIM also thanked all the sponsors and supporters for supporting the Marathon. His Imperial Majesty later encouraged the runners to keep coming to and visiting the source of humanity and mankind. That was all that happened in the Second edition of the Ile-ife Heritage Marathon 2019. The larger part of the race was on the soil of Obafemi Awolowo University. The runners were able to race around the most beautiful campus in Africa, then they proceeded to the streets of the ancient streets of ife. At this point of the race, Christof Lindenbeck was leading leaving other runners behind. . . The runners passed through Mayfair where the Ori-Olokun Roundabout is located, through Lagere area (The commercial area of Ile-ife), through the tall statue of Queen Moremi, through and other streets of Ile-ife. The people of Ile-ife came out in their large numbers to cheer up and support the runners. . . Finally, Christof Lindenbeck, a 56 year old German was the first runner to get to the finish line at the Ooni’s palace with the final time of 3:42:32, followed by Barene Jankovich-After which Besan (Female) with the final time of 3:44:39. . . The Second edition of the Ile-ife Heritage Marathon 2019 held on the 3rd of February, 2019. The Marathon was organised by FEET ON THE GROUND ADVENTURES LTD @fogadventuresltd @dayoakinbode with the support of HIM, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ooni of Ife) @ooniadimulaife , Osun State Government, Obafemi Awolowo University and many more. Exactly 50 runners from over 10 different countries participated in this 45km race round the ancient city of Ile-ife. Start line was at the Sports Complex of Obafemi Awolowo University ile-ife and the finish line was at the palace of the Ooni of Ife. At around 6am, the runners were received by the Vice Chancellor at the Start Line, Professor Eyitayo Ogunbodede. All week I've felt like I'm living back in Portland, the only thing different are the fences and views like this.
