Jeeej is back home now and I’m so sad his vacation is over. I tried to convince him to stay longer in Amman but he was fed up with messed up driving etiquettes on the streets! Самая дальняя точка Петры - монастырь Ад Дэйр. Без остановок путь сюда займет больше двух часов, причем целый час нужно будет подниматься в гору по высеченным в скалах ступеням (говорят, из тут не меньше девятисот). Бедуины предлагают подняться наверх на ослах, но выглядит это пугающе, да и животных жалко. Наградой за труды станет монастырь, который производит даже большее впечатление, чем распиаренная казна при входе. 1 или 2? На территории пустыни можно передвигаться только на джипах с бедуином за рулем. Цены начинаются от 50 динар (или как говорят местные, «джей-ди») за короткий тур до 90 за целый день. Мы брали водителя прямо в отеле. Знаю, что можно найти бедуинов у Visitor Center. У нас было три часа до заката, так что поехали по близлежащим точкам, залезали на скалы, катались на сноуборде по песчаным барханам, пили чай (оказывается, с шалфеем, а не мятой), смотрели, как солнце скрывается за горизонт. Есть два варианта: бедуинские шатры за копейки (от 1000 руб/ночь) и дорогие «бабблы» (от 8000 руб/ночь), больше похожие на марсианские палатки) Выглядит достойно, внутри тепло, кормят вкусно. Жалеем, что не разорились на джакузи на веранде, откуда офигенно любоваться звездами. Остановиться в Петре лучше всего в одном из отелей у входа, ориентир - Visitor Center. После целого дня скажете себе спасибо за это решение! Ну и войти в Петру ранним утром будет намного проще) Выбирайте: Petra Moon (вариант побюджетнее) или Movenpick (вариант побогаче). Мы жили в первом, с потрясающим завтраком и ужином. Вместо гида в Петре мы взяли карту древнего города и лазали по скалам в поисках невероятных видов или открытий. Пока что здесь много куда можно забраться, и это очень здорово, ведь чувствуешь себя практически первооткрывателем, забираясь в высеченные в камне комнаты и пытаясь понять, кто и зачем это строил с такой точностью. Петра, одно из семи новых чудес света, давно была в моем списке желаний! Магическое место.. хоть и не совсем понятно, что же все таки здесь происходило тысячелетия назад. Вопросов больше, чем ответов, а камни, к сожалению, молчат.. Зимой здесь прохладно и ветрено, зато ощутимо меньше людей. Вход дорогой, 90 динар, но оно того стоит. Впрочем, если остановиться хотя бы на одну ночь в городке у каньона - будет дешевле: 50 динар за день, 55 - за два, 60 за три. Not everything worked out on this itinerary. Jerusalem was blocked by Israeli immigration, Mauritius was one black rain cloud, and we just didn't have time to do what we hoped for at Reunion. Petra however, one of the current 7 Wonders of the World, made it all worthwhile. Walking through the ancient city of mysteries humming the Indiana Jones theme of course ;) We missed out on Petra twice in the past but we finally made it this time. Some places take more than one visit or just a couple of days to see. That's one of the drawbacks of the ship life. But if you like somewhere - go back. If you missed out on something - go back. We'll be back to see more of the Wadi Rum Desert for sure.
