🎳What a striking weekend it was at the Ada County USBC Bowling Championships!🏆 Our fantastic four council members showed off their skills and had a ball at the @adacousbc State Bowling Championships at Westy's Bowling Center in the City of Garden City, Idaho. 🌟 🎉 From strikes to spares, they knocked down pins and built community spirit. Bowling brings us together in more ways than one! 🎳 🏆 The Men's State Championship bowlers "spared" no effort at the bowling tournament this weekend! They "struck" a chord with their camaraderie and knocked down pins like pros. 🏅 The oldest active Male Bowler is Ronald Jones (92) and the youngest active Male Bowler is Logan Rhoades (5) {with permission from his mom and Grandpa Gene Jefferies}. The Women's State Championships were held at Meridian Bowling Lanes, also last weekend. 🌟🎉 Let's "split" a round of applause for their stellar teamwork! This is something we are kickstarting now during the holidays, but will be continued into the new year as needs arise! . . . Did you know that The Vineyard has its very own food pantry that helps thousands of Treasure Valley residents in need every month? This Monday, Galveston College celebrated its 56th anniversary with our annual Whitecaps Day. 🧡💙 Students, staff, faculty and alumni from throughout the years visited this incredible event in celebration of their beloved school. Through Whitecaps Day and the custom T-shirts made by our Art students, the GC Foundation was also able to raise money for vital programs within the school, such as the student Emergency Scholarship fund. 🚨 As we reflect upon GC’s history, we thank all the Whitecaps that have made the past 56 years monumental at our school on the island. Today is #WhitecapsDay, a celebration of students, faculty, staff and our alumni on the monumental day that Galveston College was founded 56 years ago. One of the ways we celebrate is diving through the years of GC’s rich history! 🎓 Did You Know… 1. Galveston College has offered nursing programs since it opened in 1967. As of January 2023, GC also offers two four-year degrees - a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Healthcare Management!👨⚕️👩⚕️ 2. Galveston College originally operated in the building that had formerly been occupied by St. Mary’s Orphanage. That building is what we now know as Moody Hall!🧱 3. In 1991, at the request of Robert L. Moody, Galveston College began the development of a men’s baseball program and comparable women’s sports team (volleyball). In 1992, GC launched their sports teams under the name of the Galveston College Whitecaps and added women’s softball to the Whitecaps lineup in 1998. Today the “Whitecaps” name is used by all GC Athletics teams. ⚾️ 4. A second Galveston College campus was established in 2013 when the Charlie Thomas Family Applied Technology Center was opened to house Welding, Electronics, HVAC, Cosmetology, Medical Coding and Certified Nursing Assistant programs!⚡️ #whitecapsday #gchistory #didyouknow #gcproud

This is the division's first and only Women's Field Lacrosse team. It was their first year and they made it all the way to city finals last night.
