There are tons of highly skilled players with No Aggression who get passed up when the Marathon Levels Out and Skill Meets Talent, Athleticism and Aggression! Another amazing weekend of Basketball & Bonding in Vegas! Our goal is to Win Every Game and Every Tournament but that's just our #MAMBAMentality The reality is that we can't win them all which is fine because we don't Take Losses, we Learn Lessons! 6th Grade lost a couple tough games and finished 4th but had an epic game against our @ladylegends_bayarea FAMILY. Our parents are amazing! The community that is forming is what ultimately creates a winning culture and environment on the court. This isn't theory, this is FACT! Our MAMBA boys are still the tightest of brothers to this day and are either in college or headed there next year with A Dump Truck of D1 offers and potential Academic Offers on the table! S/o to our HS Girls, who weathered a couple storms this weekend, including playing without their defensive anchor to win the HS Division. Turn Up Chain went to Sincere Aubrey who has come back and transformed into a leader On & Off the court while being a rock on defense and steady on offense! . Our 4th/5th Graders won the 6th Grade division with a couple cameo appearances from our 6th graders as player coaches. Turn Up Chain went to Remi Sumpter who has been on a tear the past couple of weekends dominating the boards and learning how to score at will! . Our 6th Graders played up with our 8th Graders and finished 2nd after a very controversial ruling that Amiya's buzzer beater didn't count! In Great appreciation, Greatest recognized Greatest. Amiya Aldridge has all the intangibles you can ask for in a person and basketball player. IQ is off the charts, mamba mentality is on another level. A 6th grader who plays on 6th,7th,8th and 15u/16u. A true point guard that's true to herself and skills. She makes her team mates better on every level and makes the game easy. Coaching is made easier when you have a dynamic PG. We are blessed to witness such greatness. WHAT A WEEKEND... Started...early Saturday morning, supporting a young man that played for me a few years back. Ironically, his father and I partnered to host a Skill & Drills clinic for youth in Inglewood. Fast forward, he partnered with the City of Inglewood to host a Skills and Drills clinic in alignment with the unveiling of the renovated outside courts at Centinela Park. 💪🏾 @outsidej23 Ended...Sunday afternoon with all 4 our our teams playing for Championships! Our 4th/5th graders came up short playing 5th/6th division and settled for 2nd place! The Nets are still smoking from Ariy's 3 point Extravaganza. On Sunday, she hit 4 in a row at one point and 6 or 7 in the game 🤣 Our 6th graders finished On Top of the 6th/7th grade division. Our 8th graders finished On Top of the 8th grade division. Our HS Girls followed up a loss in the championship game in their 1st tournament together about a month ago with a Championship in the Varsity Division. Next Stop is the NCAA Viewing period where they will get their 1st taste of playing in front of college coaches. This team has the full package of Laser Shooters(Promise, TeTe, Samiya) Lighting Fast Guards (Kharisma, JuJu, Heidi, Mia) Hunter is our Swiss army knife and heart and soul of the team. TO MY GIRLS... What you accomplished and perserved through is nothing short of Incredible! Alot was asked and expected of you. I pushed you to play up 2 divisions for 4 months to prepare you for any adversary you may come across on the circuit. I think the gameplan worked! Size or speed didn't faze you guys! Is this why yall call yourselves #Slaaaaay Y'all did that! God only blessed us with 2 biological daughters but for some reason it feels like we have 5 now 🤣 I love you guys so much for giving ME this experience. It was even a challenge and learning experience for me to take the 2nd seat on the bench and be a support from behind the scenes! On the court yall balled out, off the court you guys are the silliest human beings I've ever met 🤣 ❤️ Jaida expanded her game to be a serious threat from the high post and started to embrace her Size and became a defensive wall! She earned a new nickname this weekend "My Aunty" ❤️ Jayla was a late addition to the team and was one of the youngest on the team but she showed signs of who she is going to be by the summer with Buckets and defensive plays that flew under the radar. She will probably grow the most from this experience despite the fact she didn't play very much. She's my 11 year old baby giraffe. ❤️ Jadyn was a bucket! She knocked down 3's and got shifty and went down hill at will. Most surprisingly, she turned into a rebounding monster in Las Vegas! She's only 11 too but looks 14 and sounds 8 🤣 🐐 Amiya Amiya Amiya!! Lord have mercy she is fun to watch! She set every gym on fire with her ball handing, court vision, defense, rebounding and all the other intangibles that make her special! She is our leader, which includes me. I run everything by her! So proud of all the girls this weekend. Ariy's squad finished the weekend 5-0 even after playing with only 5 players on Saturday. S/o to Aniya for her MVP performance this weekend! This might have been here coming out weekend! . Amiya and her crew finished the weekend 3-1 for 2nd place in the 8th grade division. I love that my 6th graders are willing and able to play up 2 grades AND LEAD! S/o to Sanai for earning MVP. This was her 1st tournament ever but she did everything I asked which was mostly to be a dog on defense. I coached Sanai 5 or 6 years ago in the Lawndale League. In Vegas last summer, her mom gave her $100 for hitting a 3pointer and everyone went crazy. Huge Thank You to EVERYONE who supported our Raffle through the purchase of raffle tickets or donation of raffle prizes! This fundraiser was a Huge Success! . It generated much needed revenue to assure every young lady who wants to play basketball has the opportunity to do so at the highest level while keeping them engaged and active in a broad range of youth development activities and experiences! . It also helped offset some the travel expenses for 5 of our young ladies who will be competing for the next 4 months on the @madehoops circuit in Arizona, Portland, Thousand Oaks and Vegas. . Lastly, it helped generate funds for the St. Mary's Academy Basketball program where 2 of our young ladies are Freshman! . Ohhh yea...we were able to off set the cost of New Uniforms! We believe the teams that PLAY Together...PLAY TOGETHER! Especially at 11 & 12 years old, Basketball is so much more than just X's and O's, skills and talent! Without Chemistry, none of those things matter! After an 8:30 practice in the IE, the girls were able to bond with each other OFF THE COURT and from what we can see they are even more Birds of a Feather than we thought!
