PDF DOWNLOAD What’s inside this booklet? ⭐️ All of the proofs that you need to know for paper 1 and paper 2 condensed onto four A4 sheets ⭐️All of the formulas, techniques and tricks that you need to learn off for paper 1 and 2 that aren’t in your log book My biggest problem when studying maths was that I could never remember 1. which formulas I needed to learn off 2. which formulas I needed to apply to which equation 3. which integration/differentiation techniques applied to each equation To make matters worse, my notes were never in the same place. I had over seven copies, my maths book was in tatters by the end of fifth year and everything became overwhelming very quickly 😭 At the start of 6th year I stopped using my copy to take notes and instead started writing down my teachers tips and “need to learn” formulas onto my log book. By the end of the year I had everything I needed in one place and it made studying maths and doing practice questions so easy because everything was right in front of me. The week before my exams I transferred everything in my log book, along with all of the proofs I needed to know, onto these sheets. If you are the type of person who is a little bit scattered and forgets things if they aren’t all in the same place, then this booklet is for you. In order to facilitate the impact Covid-19 has had on students and their learning experience. Today, let’s have a look at what you can expect from the 🧮Mathematics exam papers in 2023! The changes for the Higher Level Maths paper and the Ordinary Level Maths paper are the same. In ✨Section A (Concept and Skills), students have a choice of 6 questions, and will have to do 5. Each question is worth 30 marks and the section will be worth 150 marks in total. All of the questions will be of a similar length to previous years, and cover similar content. The only change is that students can answer one less question. In ✨Section B (Contexts and Applications), students have a choice of 4 questions, and must do 3. Unlike Section A, the amount of material in each question is expected to be reduced! One of my #students is going to be moving into the higher level class at school. Our lessons are now going to be focusing on teaching her the topics she will have not done yet that the class will have done last year. The plan today was to look at #Surds but then we quickly ended up on doing fractional and negative indices. Considering she was unsure about the basic rules of indices with whole numbers at the start, Milly (she was happy for me to use her name) soon remembered and we were able to extend it. At the end of the lesson I pulled out my grade 8-9 book and picked out a question to show her how she has taken on a new skill and the grade it is equivalent to. As a #tutor I work very carefully when deciding what level of question to go through with a student. And am very clear with the intention of that task. For a student who is not currently working at a grade 8-9 level, I would work on a question like this for two reasons. 1. To boost their confidence as they have already shown they can do the skills required (like today) 2. To challenge a student to look at what they CAN do, even if they think they can't. I find that provided I handle this well, it really does build that resilience. The #problemsolving element of maths needs practice. Students need exposure to as many different papers and questions to learn these skills and believe they can. The approach to the lesson today was one I did as I went along. I regularly do this. All I need is paper, a pen and my knowledge of how to develop a concept. Today I did it very differently and it worked so so well. And Milly was able to prove some of these too herself.
