Jason & Tiffinnie It was such a privilege to be asked to create this cake for Tiffinnie and Jason. Tiffinnie has been a client for many years and supported my business, and then she met Jason, and they asked me to make the most important cake to date. To celebrate their love and commitment to each other just last week, they exchanged their vows at the @yandinastation I worked with @karinyaflorist to match all the florals from Tiffinnies bouquet to create this three tier cake. The florals are absolutely stunning and looked absolutely perfect, I spent just under 2 hours to create this floral story, and I couldn't love it anymore. The beautiful peppercorn leaves create such a beautiful movement that allows all the tiers to connect so beautifully. This cake was a dream cake to create. I have two more incredible weddings this week, which I can't wait for and share with you all. Good Evening Lovely People, Today marks 4 weeks steroid free. I knew this wasn't going to be a fun time, and it's still not over but I feel like I am doing it. I feel good about my decision. Obviously, I'm not a doctor and they are the ones who gave me these pills, but I don't want or need any more health issues down the track from taking certain medications. Even though I feel it's the right decision, it's still hard not to think is this, the right decision, especially when your body is going crazy. I sincerely appreciate all the support from you all over this period. I'm very lucky to have so many caring people around me. The sun is shining today. Unlike myself I'm actually very flat and low at the moment but hopefully that will change as the week goes on. Good Morning Everyone, I need to thank you all for all the love and support I received yesterday ๐ฅฐ I really appreciate all the messages. Looking forward to opening today, I would like to take a moment to fill you in on what is and isn't happening I definitely received many private messages, messages on my post and few emails. Most asked questions.... Is the Cafe opening back up? No Will I have food readily available? No Will I be doing coffee again? No Can I book a table for morning tea? No I knew these questions were coming and I understand why you want me to say yes but none of the above questions align with my business plan or my health abilities. However I do hear you so yes tomorrow I open the doors, it's just a soft opening to get back into business world. I will be doing the Winter Trees on Mary, on the 21st of July and will be baking all your favourite's plus so much more! Over the next 4 weeks I'll will be releasing all my future plans for the shop I'm not going to completely spoil everything but answering the above questions which yes are a no I have come up with ways for them to be a yes just in a way I can manage, I'm on my own this time so definitely have to pace myself but I promise I've thought of everyone and have solutions to all the above. Hello hello hello.... What do I say, where do I begin!!! So many things have happened some amazing, some not so amazing. There's definitely too many to get through in one post, but I will share them all over next few weeks or maybe month's ๐ฅฐ Firstly, I just want to acknowledge all my family, friends, and supportive clients. I definitely love you all and can't wait to share and show you all what I've been doing since last year. Like this gorgeous cake below with literally an array of colours, textures and types of flowers on this one cake, my journey to this point is completely jam packed filled with so much to share with you. My biggest news I want to share is my lupus journey. I know it is a neverending story, but my goal over the past six months is to get off the steroids. This is a really important part of my life regarding what medication I'm happy about taking, and steroids are not one I want. It's been the hardest thing to do. I've been on them for 4 year's, I've tried many times to stop but always ended up sick or too stressed to follow through. I've wanted to cave in every day and take an extra just for today but this time I didn't. I've not had one slip up in 6 months. It's been beyond hard, the pain and my mental ability has been pushed to the limit and I'm not through yet my last day is tomorrow so I'm only assuming the next few weeks aren't going to be fantastic but tomorrow is not only new chapter for my health it's the beginning of my work life coming back into the lime light. I've been trying to work so hard to put together my new shop ๐ Tomorrow my doors will be open for the first time and over the coming weeks I will show you everything I've done, everything I've planned and all the amazing changes I've made to my business. Emily and Scott These two gorgeous humans said I do on the 18 of June 2022. Looking through all their beautiful photos from Aesthete Film and Photography there was so much love and laughter. It gives me so much joy to see all the photos, makes me feel truly apart of the whole day seeing all their moments captured so beautifully. With incredible flowers from @karinyaflorist I created this elegant two tier cake for Emily and Scott. I absolutely love quicksand roses they are absolutely beautiful and matched the bridesmaids dresses perfectly. I have never delivered a cake to @noosaspringsweddings and I must say it is so nice when you show up and the venue are kind and helpful and let you do your job without feeling in the way or even a nuisance. The wedding industry is stressful enough for everyone involved without being treated poorly. The staff at Noosa Springs were absolutely lovely from front desk to the chefs I understand why anyone would want to get married in a place with such high standards of service. Painted Blue's For Emily and Isaac ๐ Such a chic and elegant colour palette and beautiful choice of flowers. Hydrangea is one of my absolute favourite flowers but it's not something you can always get and it also doesn't like being man handed or put on cakes for long. Thankfully preserved hydrangea is so easy to get now and in so many beautiful shades. It's expensive but it's definitely worth it plus you can keep it forever and put it in a box frame or in a wedding album. This week has been a roller-coaster being able to create beautiful and fun cakes all week yet I've been in that much pain I literally have been in tears while piping or washing the dishes but I got through. I finished last night at 11pm and got all cakes for today completed. Now just to deliver and do a floral wedding cake on site in Noosa and back for more deliveries and then I'm planning on doing absolutely nothing tomorrow night except drink cups tea. Karla & Andrew I actually don't think I could love this cake more. Isn't she beautiful! I think she is my NEW FAVOURITE!! So perfectly captured by @naturallyjek.photography Karla and I had discussed the design of having hand painted flowers that matched her floral story which was being designed by @branch_and_blossom Karla had decided on white cake. I picked up the flowers the day before the big day and couldn't get it out of my head the entire day that these flowers needed to pop of the canvas not fade away so I emailed asking could I please change the cake colour to match the only coloured flowers in her bouquet. I'm so glad Karla replied with 'do what you think is best, I trust you' and this is what happens when you allow creative people take some control. I am beyond happy with the outcome and even happier my clients loved it too. As you all know I love colour matching and painting on cakes it's so therapeutic especially on a week like this. Lupus clearly dislikes me currently I've been so sick everyday and everyday getting worse but being able to create something as beautiful as this while I'm going through these hard and horrible times is such a blessing. This is what keeps me going, this is what I live for and this is what I was born to do. Life is to short to not be living your dream. Evelines Magic Garden This was such a fun cake to make. I love painting on cake's and colour matching. I'm not the biggest fan of names on cake's I especially dislike fondant letters stuck on a board so I tried to hand painted Evelines name to look like it was growing with the garden and have floating flowers around. I'm so glad it worked because I didn't have a back up plan this was it! This cake reminds me of my flower wall in my shop. Love it... Crushing on the gorgeous florals from @karinyaflorist they were absolutely perfect and brought my cake to life. Just a reminder that we are about to go into peak wedding season. I know myself I have so many weddings and elopements coming up and I've been receiving a huge number of requests for a cake 'for today' or 'tomorrow' I don't make cakes in the hope someone will come along and buy it, all cakes are a custom order and made to order. I do take cakes on short notice if I physically can but a days notice is never enough time. When you can plan and book ahead if you want a custom order. Happy Birthday to Me again... Today is my 4th Birthday as a shop owner and my 9 years as a Caker. Wow what a ride... There have been many highs and of course some lows over the years but I couldn't have done it without the support and love from my family, friends and most importantly my Beautiful Clients. I would have to say I am currently at my happiest with my magical little space. Going through that big flood for the first time was one hard week watching the water slowly get closer everyday and on the last two days you could watch it get closer by the hour. The lack of sleep the insane amount of packing was exhausting. I still feel guilt for all the order's cancelled due to the floods I know it's not my fault but I still carry that weight. I decided to get the kitchen and storage rooms done immediately so I could get back to work but I let myself take my time with the front. The shop was always pretty but I wanted to go for and also really enjoy the process. I wanted to create something that would wow everyone who walked in and surprise everyone who had been beforehand of an even more beautiful space than before. How Beautiful is this photo!!! Emily & Isaac This was actually one of those cake's that meant more to me than most. I hold all my clients very close to my heart but I've known Emily since she was a young girl in school and made her birthday cake's, watched her grow up over the year's. Now she is a young lady and married to her high school sweet heart. With beautiful blooms from Branch and Blossom I created this beautiful cake for Emily and Isaac to enjoy with their family and friends. She's perfectly imperfect with her straight sides yet raw edges. Soft white florals with olive greens and that gorgeous blue perserved hydrangea and sea holly ( I think it's called ๐ค ) I had to use two blues and some grey from @colormill to colour match the blue through perfectly. Colour matching isn't easy, takes time and practice but it's something I've always enjoyed. I hope your all warm and cozy on this freezing cold morning... ohhhh my goodness I feel like my eye balls are freezing. Thank goodness for cup of tea's. Oh Baby, Soft white's and natural tones were the perfect combination for this stunning Baby Shower Cake. I love the softness of these fresh flowers against the stronger, almost sharp effect from the dried flowers. This sweet cake was many layers of fresh vanilla bean butter cake filled with fresh vanilla bean buttercream and she smelt as good as she looked. Using fresh vanilla bean is such a huge difference for your cake creations. Not only do they taste better but the smell of the fresh vanilla bean is so sweet and captivating, you know before you ever eat it it's going to be delicious. Elizabeth & Scott โค English style roses and natives were one of the important elements for this gorgeous cake design and of course the bark style was just an added bonus that the couple loved. There is always a plan set in place for all my cake designs but when it comes to the florals, I never really know until I start to look at each flower and see how the stem has grown, how the flower has open, how I want the colours to flow and then its all about creating the perfect balance so that the cake is beautiful from every angle. I don't make anywhere near as many fondant cake's as I do buttercream. When I do it's such a completely different experience. Creating the tree bark effect using fondant would have to be one of my favourite fondant styles to create and yes it's a whole lot of fun and the best part is getting my air brush machine out. Creating texture, depth and trying to make an edible ingredient look like it came from nature is a challenge but as you can see it's so worth it! Happy Monday Pretty People, Clearly I'm a creative human. I just love making everything pretty. Monday's are usually my day off from this because it's paperwork, cleaning day and continually cuppa tea's in one of my dressing gowns! BUT NOT TODAY..... Overgrown is still one of my top favourite floral cakes I've ever created. All the tones and different types of flowers on this cake are just incredible. I was lucky enough to visit @organicafloret_rosesfarm with my bestie @branch_and_blossom duing covid. It was such a lovely day but walking around Caz's Gardens was definitely the highlight of mine. When I look at this cake I see an overgrown English style garden. This is something that I would love to have but everytime I pot new plants up without even realising I make everything straight, centred and matching its just so built into me to make everything perfect. Painted pinks & Chocolate drips I love all this pink!!! Such a cute little watercolour effect on this cake. Adding watercolour to your cake isn't hard, however it's not easy to get it to look perfectly balanced. It's all about how you layer the colours, the amount you need of each tone and of course the perfect scraper. Spring Garden It's been exactly 3 months since my last post, and what better way then to return than with this incredibly pretty pink floral cake. With spectacular florals from @branch_and_blossom I was able to create this garden inspired cake for a very special 40th birthday. I really wanted to make the florals to have an organic feel like an over grown gorgeous spring garden as my client loves growing beautiful rose's in her garden. I hope you have all been well....
