We are back with the third edition of Rackless Kazi! An intensive and interactive 8 day female DJ residency held here in Lusaka that works towards positioning young women in the electronic music industry in Africa and Zambia. Open to emerging and mid-level DJs across Southern Africa aged between 18-45. An artistic and technical encounter around industry Master Classes, mentors will share their knowledge, networks and performances with residents. The residency will focus on working with the Zamrock sound which will give way to the production of new bodies of work and strengthening their capacities among DJ. The residency is fully funded and we see you in Lsk. Rackless Kazi, a Modzi Arts programme under Rackless Abutu project funded by the Sound Connects Fund, an initiative by the @musicinafricaofficial and @goetheinstitut . • @libe_arts As a story teller, I have been engaging with my great grandmother, grand parents, my mother and my localities, in search for understanding of our heritage and identity and most of all the knowledge of naturalism that my great grandmother is very experienced at. I went to live with my great grandmother who is in her 100+ years, especting to explore and learn a lot from her, being there and seeing how she has aged I realized she needs care more than anything. Different from what I expected my role changed, but that did not stop me from learning. While taking care of her and slowly observing, questions flooded my mind, I questioned my role in that setting and I was humbled by her ways of life and learnt alternatively. This privilege am getting is humbling and am more motivated than ever to express this and have conversations with the society. The residency at @modziarts will give me a space to reflect and manifest a lot through my artworks. @nafasiartspace in partnership with @modziarts it has supported my fundraising exhibition curated by @rebeccacorey that will happen on 6th May at @makeitmatter_tz @thedrumtz where my artworks will be on sale.
