Mac Sabbath at Transplants Brewing Company, 9.1.23. (pt. 1/2) This was my absolute favorite shoot to date, hands down. My form, so to speak, was far from perfect, and I experienced some technical difficulties, but my statement stands. The entire evening was incredible, but Mac Sabbath really sealed the deal. I was in awe of not only the talent but the theatrics, stage presence, and hilarious banter as well. Very reminiscent of how I feel at Gwar shows, but with such a perfectly unique twist. There wasn't a dull moment, and they were very generous in giving me what I needed as a photographer. More to come, as choosing favorites was no easy feat. I'm only sad that I didn't end up with more viable photos of the Catburgler (aka Peter Criss-Cut Fries 😹) despite his generosity. I am beyond excited to capture yet another evening of this fast food debauchery come November! I'm thinking a full review is in order, as well. Okay, just a sneak peek mini series because I love it and need *some* sense of accomplishment. I'm not even remotely close to finishing up. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that for whatever reason, my camera was in One Shot autofocus mode vs. AI-Servo (the first is for relatively still subjects, the second is for continuous movement). No idea why, and no idea how I didn't realize it. So a lot of what I thought was going to be some of my best work to date actually ended up out of focus garbage. So that's been highly defeating. A lot more is having to go into editing than usual, and only some of it is salvageable (by my personal standards). But, I'm just going to try my best and use this as a learning experience to ALWAYS CHECK YOUR FUCKING AF SETTINGS 😹 I was like, "man I'm really having to rev up the ISO and shutter speed for such decent lighting wtf." Such is life. I'm really, *really* banking on a redemption shoot in November, because I have never had so much fun shooting a band before.
