Young game developers who participated in the “Fundamentals of Game Technologies” course by GTC visited #SperasoftYerevan. We gave them a tour of the studio, explained how we create AAA games in #Armenia, and, of course, provided them with some small gifts. This was a reward for successfully creating a game, which was recognized by professional game developers, including Genrik Muradyan, the Associate Technical Director of #Sperasoft. The pitching of the video game projects by young developers from in Yerevan, Shirak, and Lori marzes was a part of the opening ceremony of the “Creative Tech Lab” at the Gyumri Technology Center by EIF , supported by the EIF - Enterprise Incubator Foundation and The Coca-Cola Company Hellenic Armenia. #Sperasoft Belgrade was alive with excitement last weekend as five groups of developers embarked on a 48-hour game jam. Their task was to create complete games based on the theme "Unexpected Partnership." The games were then reviewed by senior developers and a jury during a play session at the studio. Despite the time constraints, all five games were completed, demonstrating diverse creativity and pure enjoyment. The winner was "Healer-Killer," a game that perfectly embodied the theme. I believe that to sell games and game development services, you not only need to have a well-rounded background in advertising/marketing and be passionate about them, but you also need to understand the production pipeline and be on the same wavelength with the developers. Last week we, at @sperasoft.serbia , organized the first internal @Sperasoft , a @keywordsstudiosglobal #GameJam, and I decided to participate. My coworkers questioned what a marketing expert would do at a game jam — promote a game? The guys were surprised when I took over the level's art and design (we only used two other people's assets as a basis; I painted and modeled everything else). In the end, with a team of four people and just 30 hours of active development on #UE5, we built the game, from concept to build. I'm proud to be a part of game development. And grateful to my teammates for having me in the team. And this t-shirt, that I wear on the photo, will be a reminder of my achievement! P.S. I've also realized that game jams are best left to the newest enthusiasts. It is difficult for me to work all night at the age of 35 🤣 ; instead, I prefer to manage and promote the company's brand and games, which are things I do best. However, I still want to be highly involved in the development process, running early research and coming up with some concepts. I might one day appear in the credits of an amazing video game. Well, don't believe everything you see: it is not just bricks! We've run a Workshop on Agile/Scrum in #SperasoftKrakow studio, doing some gamification with Lego's blocks. Two teams cooperated to build together a city, via 3 sprints of 15 min. Estimating tasks, splitting and organizing autonomously the work, and having fun! Within the workshop, the #SperasoftTeam has the opportunity to face the challenges of modern software development and get over it. #Sperasoft Senior Software Developer Amal Issabekov gave a Game Engines masterclass at Summer School by Kazakh-British Technical University GameLab. Amal introduced the students to the world of modern game engines, as well as shared practical tips on how to properly select an engine for your game. He also held a hands-on session devoted to Unreal Engine 5. The students were guided to identify and fix specific issues in a game. Sperasoft team is always excited about contributing to GameDev communities and educational institutions. It was a fantastic experience! In mid-July, #Sperasoft organized a two-day tour of Kazakhstan, in which the development team visited two main cities, Nur-Sultan and Almaty. We are pleased to share that 400+ people attended our summit in Kazakhstan. Programmers and artists, testers and designers came to meet Sperasoft veterans and learn more about AAA GameDev and discuss career opportunities! Apart from professional discussions the day was full of contests and gifts. Many quiz participants demonstrated impressive knowledge of different game development aspects, and we were so happy to see some very young participants among the winners. This makes us feel Kazakhstan will witness a great GameDev future. And we are looking forward to meeting again!
So many people joined #Sperasoft game development meetup in Nur-Sultan to get a great opportunity to meet Sperasoft team who contributed to world-class franchises like Assassin's Creed and Halo! We were happy to engage with local people to help build further a community of passionate gamers and game developers: lots of professional discussions with Sperasoft SMEs took place at the event. And for afters our summit visitors participated in a GameDev quiz to win cool prizes. Then we hit the road to Almaty. But that's another story.
