A small update on living independently with a disability that makes things a little challenging! One of those things about living independently is that you can decorate your home or apartment how you want it to be decorated! I wanted to decorate the upstairs bathroom in a specific way. I did choose the Nightmare Before Christmas theme for my upstairs bathroom. Any guests that I have will use the guest bathroom downstairs. So I got a shower curtain have got Jack and Sally on it. I also hang up a picture in the bathroom of Jack, Sally, and Zero the cute little dog that Jack owns in the movie… well I decided to make it more dramatic by adding a red light! Middle schoolers in Waldorf schools are often led through a particular experiment during their first study of optics and thermodynamics: in a room sealed so as to allow total darkness, a light bulb controlled by a dimmer is slowly turned on. The students are to note: 1) which colours appear first, which last; 2) at what point the equilibrium between light and darkness allows the colours to shine at their most resplendent; 3) which colours first disappear when the lightbulb goes on to emit so much light that it overpowers what can be seen, and excess light dissolves colours into whiteness. I could blame emotional reactivity, or point fingers at how I was raised. Many of us come from backgrounds where this was the norm. Our parents were very likely raised in the same (if not more intense) manner. Was there ever a time you found yourself stuck in the "Don'ts" with your child? Don't you stress. The good news is awareness is the first step to any change. The more you are aware of what language you use to direct your child, the easier it will be to get them to be better listeners. With practice it will become more and more automatic. 🦾⚙️ Using Don't and Stop creates a vacuum in the concrete thinking of your little one. "Okay if I shouldn't run and eat, what SHOULD I do?" And the brain pops up an error code. Then quickly resets. "Hmm... What did I want to do again? Oh yeah, run and eat. Let's Gooooo!" So the next time you find yourself in a similar situation as this Mom, pause and ask yourself how can I tell them what to do in an affirmative phrase. Even better - say it with a smile and a song (They really love that). 120/366 Today is my 1,638th day on my job!!!! I will tell you, I have learnt a lot working in my organization. From someone who never wanted to be a marketer, to someone who has mastered her sales skills and is consistently raising the bar, I must say, I have learnt a lot and you have a lot to learn from me. Marketing, sales and customer service are the job description of anyone in sales. You need to know how to market your product and also, manage your customers. That’s what makes for a good salesperson. Your job doesn’t start when you close a sale, it does, when you speak about your product(marketing). Your job doesn’t end when you close a sale, it only begins, because you have to manage your customer(customer service) to ensure satisfaction and referral of new customers. Again, I say, I HAVE MASTERED THE ART OF GENERATING SALES. No, it’s not something I learnt in a minute, so far, I have dedicated 1,638 days in ONE COMPANY, not because there are no other companies who need my expertise, but because growth goes along with loyalty. This is what I have learnt, right now, I will be dedicating my days here as I already have started doing, to teach on sales. You’ll learn a lot from me, trust me. Finding experience related to SLP or audiology will greatly benefit your resume. This can be working with children or adults in a variety of work settings. I personally am a summer camp director in the summer and then worked for an aftercare school program during the school year.
