Our amazing #TheHodagWay 5th graders are officially on their way to middle school! Last week, during College and Career Week, they had the chance to "sign" to go into middle school. Way to go students on marking your next step on your education journey! ✏️✨ They signed their certificate with a giant pencil and then took a photo to share what they wanted to be when they grew up. A huge thank you to the RHS Key Club students who volunteered their time to make this event a success! They helped present certificates, took pictures, and even shared their own experiences and advice for transitioning to middle school. We can't wait to see what these bright young minds achieve! 🌟

DECA ICDC 2024 Over this past week 8 members attended the DECA International Career & Development Conference in Anaheim, California. Cassie Burke, Payton McCue & Alyssa Smits competed in the Community Giving Project. The committee of three sent in a twenty page paper ahead of time. In Anaheim, the three individuals presented the project of Santa Letters in front of a judge. Kate Ripple competed in Business Finance. For this event, Kate took a test and did two role plays with a judge. Claire Caselton, Tyler Chariton, Lucas Hazelton & Tori Riopel attended the leadership academy at DECA ICDC. All members had a wonderful time and great experience. Members had the ability to network and meet new people, pin trade, improve in leadership skills, and enjoy gorgeous weather! A shoutout goes to Ms. Fryar, Rhinelander FBLA/DECA advisor, as she has put in a tremendous amount of work to make all of this possible. Thank you for all that you continue to do for this great organization! Another shout goes to the DECA advisor from Medford, Wisconsin. Mrs. Coleman's 4K class at Crescent Elementary has been learning about the planets, the galaxy, and even how the Earth makes its orbit around the sun. ☀️ 🪐So after two weeks of exploring the wonders of the Earth and Sky, these young astronomers crafted their very own constellations using pretzel sticks and mini marshmallows. 💫✨They had a blast diving into the cosmos with a delicious twist with these stellar snacks. 😋 #TheHodagWay
🎉 Pawsitively perfect! Celebrating Rex's first birthday and training triumphs! 🐕🌟 Our amazing therapy dog-in-training, Rex, celebrated his first birthday this weekend in pawsome style! 🐾Not only did he get yummy treats and birthday cuddles, but he also aced a series of important training tests with flying colors: ▪️Farm Dog is a series of twelve exercises that represent situations a dog may encounter in a farm environment. Rex proved that he can be around different animals, equipment, and a variety of situations on a farm with little to no reaction. ▪️Novice Trick is a fun test to see what a dog can be taught and performed. Rex performed a total of 5 new tricks. ▪️Canine Good Citizen is a 10-skills test that teaches good manners to dogs and responsible ownership to owners. This is Rex's first step to earning his Therapy Certification. We are incredibly proud of Rex and all his hard work. He's a valuable member of the Pelican Elementary staff, and we can't wait to see him continue to grow and learn. Congratulations and Happy Birthday Rex! 🌟🐾🐕 #TheHodagWay

🌾🍞 Mrs. Wilson from the UW-Extension Office in Oneida County has been on a fantastic journey with NCES elementary students for the past four weeks through the Food Wise program! 🥦🍎 This initiative is all about discovering where our food originates and making wise, healthy choices. Recently, second-grade classrooms got hands-on by grinding wheat berries to make flour. What a delicious way to learn! 🌾👩🌾 #TheHodagWay
It was an amazing Earth Day throughout the district! 🌎🌟 Our second-grade superstars at Central Elementary stepped up for Mother Earth this Earth Day! They all mentioned to Mr. Arneson that taking care of our environment is fun! 😊 They rolled up their sleeves and cleaned up our campus block, showing us all the power of teamwork and environmental responsibility. Way to go! 🌟🌿 Mr. Richter's 2nd-grade class and Mrs. Bishop's 3rd-grade class teamed up for an inspiring Earth Day initiative! Together, they rolled up their sleeves and ventured outside to make a difference. Armed with gloves and determination, these young eco-warriors tackled the aftermath of winter, clearing away litter revealed by melting snow. Bags were filled, smiles were shared, and the spirit of environmental stewardship was alive and well. It's heartwarming to see our students actively caring for their school grounds and our planet. 📣HOSA’s (Future Health Professionals) second Annual Color Run will take place on May 18th at the Mike Webster Stadium. This school year, the RHS Key Club raised money to purchase two books for every kindergarten student in Rhinelander. This week our RHS high school students are visiting each kindergarten classroom to read one of those books with students, along with a few others, of their favorite books. It was a fun morning at Crescent Elementary in the kindergarten classrooms. Kate Ripple took 2nd place in Business Communications. The team of Cassie Burke, Payton McCue & Alyssa Smits came home as state champs and took 1st place for the Community Service Project. FBLA STATE - DAY ONE The first day of FBLA State started with opening session in the morning. Throughout the day, a few members began presenting to judges, test taking, or enjoyed the first day at the leadership academy. Members, advisor and chaperone ate delicious sushi for lunch. While others, used DoorDash to deliver food. For dinner, members explored different restaurants in Green Bay, WI. A second ceremony was held in the evening to celebrate chapter and other individual awards. At night, a few of our FBLA chapter members had a great time dancing and enjoying karaoke at the block party. NCES first graders took flight with their Mystery Bird Riddles, leaving their families chirping with delight! After being given many 🔎clues, family members were asked to guess which bird the riddle was about.
