Kukke Subramanya nestled between the foothills of western ghats on the banks of kumaradhara river, is one of the seven holy places created by Parashurama. (dating back to more than 5000 years) also, a place where serpent king Vasuki took refugee while being hunted by Garuda (legendary bird and official vehicle of Lord Vishnu) A strategically important place of worship for hindu’s, where thousands of people across the country visit & pay’s their respect. My childhood memory : We use to come to mangalore for vacation once a year (during kola at my pappa’s place in december), we use to get up as early as 4am, get ready & leave from mijar for subramanya, have breakfast at laxmi nivas KT hotel, kalladka & reach subramanya by 6.30 am, take a dip in kumaradhara river, offer ashlesha pooja, pray at adi subramanya (which is considered as the place where main deity had taken refugee), collect the soil of the old burrow (puncha da mann - in tulu) & then we use to leave for dharmasthala manjunateshwara temple, stand in queue for 2 hours (😅) have a delicious temple lunch there & head back home ❤️ I ensure i visit this place every year, it has so much of positive energy. In Siliguri, the return of scorching summers has brought back the perennial issue of drinking water scarcity. The situation is exacerbated by residents who illegally use Tullu pumps to extract large volumes of municipal water for non-drinking purposes and engage in unauthorized boring. To combat these practices, Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) Mayor Gautam Deb has mandated a thorough survey to identify offenders, with the potential penalty of cutting off water supply connections to those found in violation. During a recent SMC meeting, opposition councillors voiced concerns over these illegal activities, which strain the already limited water supply. Siliguri requires about 100 million liters of water daily but currently receives less than 55 million liters. This shortage impedes the equal distribution of water across all wards, prompting some residents to misuse the water supply for construction and other activities. In response, Mayor Deb has announced plans to dispatch additional water tanks to the most affected areas and to consult with experts to find a sustainable solution. Furthermore, SMC is advancing a major drinking water project and setting up booster stations in specific wards to improve water quality by removing iron. ಪುತ್ತೂರು ಸೀಮೆಯ ಜನರು ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಎಲ್ಲೇ ಇರಲಿ, ಅವರ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಹಾಲಿಂಗೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವರ ಒಂದು ಕಪ್ಪು ಬಿಳುಪಿನ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ನಿತ್ಯ ಪೂಜೆ ಸಲ್ಲುತ್ತದೆ. ರಿಕ್ಷಾ, ಕಾರು,ಬಸ್ಸು , ಲಾರಿ, ಪುತ್ತೂರು ಮೂಲದವರ ಹೋಟೆಲು, ಮಳಿಗೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ನಮಿಸಿಯೇ ದಿನದ ವ್ಯವಹಾರ ಆರಂಭ... ಅಂದಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಛಾಯಾಚಿತ್ರಗಾರರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ತೋಳ್ಪಾಡಿಯವರು ತೆಗೆದ ದೇವರ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಶತಮಾನದ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ. 1922 ನೇ ಇಸವಿ, ಒಂದು ದಿನ ತೋಳ್ಪಾಡಿಯವರಿಗೆ ಮಹಾಲಿಂಗೇಶ್ವರನ ಫೋಟೋ ತೆಗೆಯಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಯಿತು..ಆಗ ,ಈಗಿನಂತೆ ಆಧುನಿಕ ಕೆಮರಾಗಳು ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ .ಫೀಲ್ಡ್ ಕೆಮರಾಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರ ಪ್ರಚಲಿತದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕಾಲ ಮೂರು ಕಾಲುಗಳ ಸ್ಟಾಂಡ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಿಸಿ ಕೆಮರಾದಿಂದ ಫೋಟೋ ತೆಗೆಯಬೇಕಿತ್ತು .ತೋಳ್ಪಾಡಿಯವರು ಫೀಲ್ಡ್ ಕೆಮರಾದಿಂದ ತನ್ನ ಇಷ್ಟದೇವರ ಫೋಟೋವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದರು. ಸುದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲ ಫೋಟೋ ಬಾಳಿಕೆ ಬರಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಅಂದಿನ ಕಾಲದ ಫಿಲ್ಮ್ ಕ್ಲೀನಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ಫೋಟೋ ವಾಷಿಂಗ್ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯನ್ನು ಅಳವಡಿಸಿ , 15 ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕಲಾತ್ಮಕ ಫೋಟೋವನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ದೇವರ ಕಪ್ಪು ಬಿಳುಪಿನ ಕಲಾತ್ಮಕ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರ ಇಂದು ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ಭಕ್ತರ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಾಧಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಿದೆ ಈಗಲೂ ಕೂಡ ಹೊರರಾಜ್ಯದವರು , ವಿದೇಶದವರು ಜಾತ್ರೆಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಮಹಾಲಿಂಗೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವರ ಕಪ್ಪು ಬಿಳುಪಿನ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪದೇ ಒಯ್ಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಬರಹ : ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ ಪಿ.ಜಿ. #kudla #kudlacity #kudlacity6 #mangalore #city #citynews #tulu #tulunadu #temple #pearlcity #puttur #srimahalingeswara #pearl

Bhoota Kola, also referred to as Daiva Kola or Daiva Nema, is a shamanistic dance performance prevalent among the Hindus of Tulu Nadu and parts of Malenadu of Karnataka and Kasargod in northern Kerala, India.
