On the fourth of March 2019, Kilian Academy officially opened its doors in Owen Sound. Owen Sound received us with open arms, for which we are truly thankful. We are still in our establishing phase and the little we have, we give with pride and honour. Thank you to the YMCA Owen Sound, for allowing us to participate in one of their fundraising drives. The first Rotating Tri-Club Open Mat was hosted by Bowler's BJJ in Flesherton was a huge success. Spearheaded by Kilian Academy and supported by visionary coaches Jessie Topp from Topp Performance (Port Elgin) and Andrew Bowler from Bowler's BJJ (Flesherton), the open mat saw 24 BJJ-enthusiast enjoy what they do and train together. The success of this event can be attributed firstly to the three coaches involved, who clearly can see beyond their own clubs and the value BJJ brings to the Grey-Bruce region. Secondly, to the great spirit in which all participants participated.
