Our Master in Alta Moda, Fashion Design students embarked with @maisonvalentino on a new Industry Project. Guided by Yvan Mispelaere, Director of Haute Couture Design & Production, the project’s goal is to strike a harmonious balance between personal research and an examination of the Maison across its various stages – past, present, and future. The first step of the Industry Project was to discover the the meticulous craftsmanship and rich history that define the brand inside the Haute Couture Atelier and the archives of Valentino together with Violante Valdettaro, Heritage & Archive Manager. After discovering Fendi’s leather goods headquarters in Capannuccia, this time our students were led through a tour of shoe production processes under the guidance of the artisans. With the insights of these experienced professionals, they witnessed each meticulous step involved in crafting both iconic and latest shoes, gaining a deeper understanding of the techniques and craftsmanship. In the last weeks our 3yr Undergraduate Course in Fashion Management students visited @falconeriofficial headquarters in Avio, Trentino Alto-Adige, for a new Industry Project briefing. The project, “Luxury, Excellence, and Accessibility for the New Generations” challenges students to redefine luxury and high quality for Generation Y and Z. This involves envisioning collaborations, communication and retail marketing strategies that that bridge the gap between luxury and accessibility for younger audiences, and shape Falconeri’s future brand identity accordingly. Our Master in Accessories Design embarked on a new enriching journey, discovering the heart of luxury craftsmanship at the headquarters of @ferragamo in Osmannoro, Tuscany. Their visit included an immersive exploration of the brand’s archive and factory, where they absorbed the rich heritage and innovative spirit that define Ferragamo’s legacy. After an overview of the brand’s history our students were presented with a new brief for their Industry Project. The project focused on the exploration of materials, from leathers to technical fabrics, challenges students to reimagine product personalization in line with Ferragamo. Drawing inspiration from films like “Tomboy” and “We Are Who We Are,” as well as photographs by Wolfgang Tillmans and street imagery, it seeks a transversal and liberated perspective. The resulting garments are delicate, adorned with floral embroidery, chiné prints, and sheer fabrics, embodying beauty and fragility as means to counteract violence.
