Celebrate #TeamAmplifeAmbassador, Michael Braxton Jr.! Police Officer / Public Speaker / Motivator Left Below Knee Amputee Mays Landing NJ, United States Member Since June 9th, 2013 Michael’s Amplife® Story: “When I was on a nice ride, I entered an intersection & was going to collide with a car. Trying to avoid it, I struck a pole, broke my right foot & traumatically amputated my left leg below the knee. I was riding with my friends, angels on earth, they placed a tourniquet & saved my life. I spent the next month recovering in the hospital. When released, I spent almost a year in physical therapy to return back to work full duty as a police officer. Almost a year after my accident, I was back serving my community. In 2015 & 2016, I competed & attained many medals as a track & field para athlete to make Team USA. I did not make the team, but met many influential people & had wonderful moments & memories. I continued living life, & even after becoming an amputee, I found my someone who became my wife on June 1st, 2019, who saw me for me, not my disability, proving that there’s still love after amputation. In 2022, I graduated from the K9 Academy & became New Jersey’s 1st Amputee K9 Officer. A lifelong dream & accomplishment that I hope will help open doors for the rest of our amputee community. Wearing Amplife feels the same as my boots for duty. I can walk with my head held high & a strong sense of pride. Several times I’ve been told how motivating I am just by them observing my gear. I’ve been able to hear stories of what they’ve gone through, & told them my story, sharing special moments to inspire each other. I don’t know what’s next but I’m ready! When you stay ready, you never have to get ready! I want to motivate & inspire all!” Connect with Michael - amplife.co/michael-braxton-jr Team Amplife® Ambassadors - amplife.co/ambassadors Join Team Amplife® - team.amplife.co Get involved with Amplife® Awareness - amplife.co/awareness [Alt text: Collage of Michael rockin’ his Amplife®.] CAN’T STOP. Celebrate #TeamAmplifeAmbassador, Andrew May! Mountain Biker / Runner / O&P Professional Left Below Knee Amputee Dublin CA, United States Member Since December 16th, 2000 Andrew’s Amplife® Story: “On December 16th, 2000, I lost my left leg below the knee in a motorcycle accident. Luckily, I was already an avid bicycle rider and runner with a small grassroots sponsorship with Fox Racing at the time and they called Willowwood who is a manufacturer in prosthetics telling them my story. Got a call from them on my morphine drip bed saying that they wanted me and my wife to come out to Ohio to get a leg and try out an amazing foot at the time called the Pathfinder which used a Fox Shock. Got fitted and many sockets later got back on the bike again and started racing. I got back on a stationary bike 3 weeks post op and an actual bike race 10 months later. I have not looked back since. Now looking back, I have raced in hundreds of cycling events and running events also. I got into Triathlon racing and competed in countless Xterra Off Road Triathlons and competed in the Escape From Alcatraz 3 times. I officially retired from racing in 2016 but I still compete locally and participate in mountain biking and trail running. I also work in the O&P Industry for Fillauer who is a manufacturer of prosthetic feet and upper arm systems.” Connect with Andrew- amplife.co/andrew-may Team Amplife® Ambassadors - amplife.co/ambassadors Join Team Amplife® - team.amplife.co Get involved with Amplife® Awareness - amplife.co/awareness [Alt text: Collage of Andrew May enjoying the park with his dog, working out, riding his mountain bike, advocating for the orthotics & prosthetics industry, volunteering by explaining what prosthetics are to an elementary class, and rockin’ his Amplife® while wearing the Amplife® Flat Bill Snapback, Amplife® Innerstrength Skull Tank Top Death Cheater™ Halo Beanie, Amplife® Death Cheater™ T-Shirt and Severed Society® Drip T-Shirt, Flat Bill Snapback & Sticker.] CAN’T STOP. Celebrate #TeamAmplifeAmbassador, Tomás De La Mora! Entrepreneur / Public Speaker / One Legged Wonder Left Above Knee Amputee Long Beach CA, United States Member Since February 7th, 2015 Tomás’ Amplife® Story: “I was a 20 year federal agent when I had my motorcycle accident & became an amputee on February 7th, 2015. I love bikes. My buddy & I were working on a bike for SEMA. I was on my way to his shop to finish it when I got cut off by a diesel truck with spiked lugnuts, which is what took off my leg. After they reattached my leg that same night, my body went septic. My doctors said to squeeze their hand, cause I couldn’t talk with tubes in my mouth, if they could amputate my leg & I just kept squeezing & didn’t stop in order to give my authorization. I spent 2015 rehabilitating, & didn’t receive my prosthetic leg until that December. My nephew approached me & said that he wanted to train me. I told him that my lifting days are over and that training was only for young people. But I started working out with him, because I hated staying home. Then, I fell in love with fitness. I began thinking what am I gonna do now, as an amputee. My nephew said let’s get a gym together & asked if I could help run it. I accepted & as time went on, being in the gym everyday, it helped a lot. That’s what got me into lifting. I did it, but wasn’t dedicated to the point where I am now. As cliche as it is, never give up. Because once you give up, that’s it, it’s done. Have the attitude that you will not lose, no matter what you do, even if it’s getting up and taking a shower.” Connect with Tomás - amplife.co/tomas-de-la-mora Team Amplife® Ambassadors - amplife.co/ambassadors Join Team Amplife® - team.amplife.co Get involved with Amplife® Awareness - amplife.co/awareness [Alt text: Collage of Tomás De La Mora working out, competing at NPC MUSCLECONTEST LA Championships, flexing, pulling a plane, and rockin’ his Amplife®.] CAN’T STOP.
