Hi folks, only me! Pretty sure no one will see this as I’ve not posted in a while so hello to anyone who does actually read this 🤣 ➡️ swipe for Thailand holiday snaps 🇹🇭 We’ve been away and had the absolute best couple of weeks travelling around and exploring Thailand 🇹🇭🏝️🐘🫶🏼🌅 we started in Bangkok and then went onto Chiang Mai in the north and then Phuket and Phi Phi Islands in the south. We saw temples, went to an elephant sanctuary, did a Thai cooking class, hiked the Monk’s Trail in Chiang Mai up to Doi Suthep Temple, island hopped by speedboat around Phi Phi including Maya Bay, Bamboo Beach, Pileh Lagoon and Monkey Bay, went sea cave canoeing around Phang Nga Bay ~ Phanak Island, James Bond Island (Khao Phing Kan and Koh Tapu) and Hong Island 🛶, ate all the mango sticky rice and Pad Thai and just had the best time! The drawing board was worked on this one 😂😂😂 A simple set of alcove units has involved a lot of changes and situations to overcome, but, it’s all been worth it in the end. The client is over the moon with the outcome and functions added to this job and it’s been a sentiment to how sometimes things just don’t always go to plan, but as professionals we adapt and overcome to deliver every time 👊🏻. In short there was more pipes and cables in the walls than there was wall 🤦🏻‍♂️ and this meant changes to the plan, check out my reel on this project where I talk about this more. The interesting part of this project was making the left hand side alcove storage unit accessible and functional for both the clients current set up in the room and any future changes. They have a corner sofa (⬅️slide➡️ to see) so I needed to make the unit accessible while the sofa is there but I also wanted to make it functional for when and if they change the sofa. Introducing a lid to the worktop allowed storage access while the sofa is in place and I’ve used the self of the unit to act as a temporary retainer so that items placed into the unit don’t push on to and open the doors. If the sofas ever changed it removed the shelf can be added to the unit for normal use and the doors can function as normal. Love what I do because it’s little jobs like this that involves changes and something a little different that keeps you thinking on your feet. Shelf faffing 🏺 Is anyone ever happy with there shelves? I need to switch up some things when I’ve found some more bits for here. Personally don’t think I’ll be happy with them untill I’ve changed the colour, still very frustrated the paint colour suggested it was a white which I think is very much more of a blue…. Ad RECREATE MY ALCOVE DESK! I have loved finally having a dedicated workspace in the house, no more working at the dining room table. I built this using materials from @bandq_uk & it was so much simpler than I anticipated. As you can see from these pictures I built a wooden structure using wood batons, I used a thinner baton for the shelves than the desk. Then I added the desk top and top and bottom shelves & then fronted with 68cm wood trim to give the floating effect. Lastly, I accessorised with a ruffled edge cushion, frames and a candle all from @bandq_uk! A 'simple' winter DIY job, although nothing is simple in a 600 year old wonky cottage! It took a while longer than planned to get these up. Trying to work around the beams and uneven edges meant that we had to use a fair few angles to slot the shelves into place.
