Hat aber seinen Spice, seine Brutalität und seine Spannung. Für sensible Leser, empfehle ich trotzdem ein Auge auf die Triggerwarnung zu halten. 👀. Die Handlung hat einen touch von Mafia Vibes. Hooked aka James ist als Protagonist rachsüchtig und sehr dominant beschrieben worden. Mit Wendy hatte ich jedoch meine Schwierigkeiten, da sie mir Anfangs sehr naiv rüberkommen ist. Ok eigentlich für die ganze Geschichte. Sie kam mir vor, wie ein kleines Mädchen, dass unter Daddy issues leidet, da ihre Beziehung zu ihrem Vater gerade nicht die beste ist. Somit ergänzen sich die Charaktere James und Wendy ziemlich gut. Durch die kurzen Kapitel, lies sich das Buch schnell und angenehm lesen. Die Spannung in der Geschichte wurde immer aufrecht erhalten und es gab für mich persönlich wirklich kein einziges Kapitel wo ich mich gelangweilt habe. Den Twist am Ende habe ich nicht kommen sehen, da mein Verdacht ständig auf andere Charaktere gezogen worden ist und der Epilog war für meinen Geschmack etwas „too much und kitschig“. Die Geschichte ist definitiv noch ausbaufähig, aber trotzdem gut gelungen. A könyv végén csak néztem, hogy a bánatos békába történhetett mindez, hogy siklottam el valami felett, és néztem vadul körbe, hol a folytatás? Going in, I had certain expectations of how the story was going to play out based on the blurb, but it was not at all what I anticipated - and I mean this in a good way. The story revolves around the family of Lucy, a 10-year-old girl who was brutally murdered. Her family is now faced with the burden of carrying out the death sentence of the perpetrator. The novel raises questions about the morality of capital punishment and how it affects the people who are responsible for carrying out the sentence. What stood out for me was the absence of the murderer's point of view. The novel does not give him a voice or any kind of glorification, which makes the story all the more impactful. The details of what he did to Lucy are only revealed through the reading of the sentencing remarks, and they are so confronting and jarring that I had to close the book and breathe. I want to give a shoutout to @racheal_reads for buddy reading this one with me. The book left me thinking and feeling so many things, and I am glad I had someone to discuss it with. . . Se loi tiettyä odotuksen tuntua, joka kylläkin välillä tuntui vaan odottelulta. Ymmärrän sen pointin kuitenkin, koska kirjan mullistavimmat juonenkäänteet tavallaan vaati sen. Baletista kertovaa kirjaa oli mielenkiintoista lukea. Luulen, että kaikessa armottomuudessaan tässä oli varmasti aika paljon totuudenmukaistakin kerrontaa balettimaailmasta. Margaret Rogerson - Mágia rodu Thornovcov 4*/5* Táto kniha ma milo prekvapila. Čakala som v podstate rozprávku a dostala som veľmi príjemný a pre mňa oddychový fantasy príbeh. Páčilo sa mi napätie aj zvraty, ktoré sa počas deja udiali. Ešte viac ma však prekvapilo, že ako 31 ročnú ženu, ma bavilo čítať o 16 ročnom dievčati a dokonca bavila aj slow burn romantická linka. Hlavnu hrdinki som si obľúbila od prvej stránky a prostredie knižnice som si naozaj zamilovala. Bol to presne taký príbeh, ktorým som v tej chvíli žila a úplne zabudla, že čítam. Jediná vec, ktora ma trosku rušili, bola časté opakovanie sa niektorých fráz. Našťastie na celkovom dojme to až tak neubralo. Το πρώτο βιβλίο φυσικά και το αγάπησα (αν και ήξερα την ιστορία από την ταινία ) .Η Λου Κλαρκ ένα χαρούμενο κορίτσι με τα πολύχρωμα ντυσίματα της ,χάνει την δουλειά της,η οποία της άρεσε πολύ και δέχεται μια δουλειά από ανάγκη ,να φροντίσει καποιον τετραπληγικο .Αυτος είναι ο Γιουλ Τρεινορ ,ένα νεαρός άντρας που λάτρευε την ζωή και την ζούσε στο έπακρο !Ομως ένα σοβαρό ατύχημα θα τον καθηλώσει σε ισόβια αναπηρία και θα του στερήσει το πάθος για την ζωή !Αλλα δεν ξέρει όμως ,οτι η Λου θα μπει στην ζωή του σαν ένα ουρανιο τόξο !!Τελικα κ οι δυο τους ,θα προκαλέσουν βαθιές αλλαγές που θα σφραγίσουν τον έρωτα τους ! Et c'est toujours un réel plaisir cette histoire ausso bien construite qui allie la piraterie à la magie ! Les deux sont très bien liés l'un à l'autre sans qu'aucun des deux prenne le pas sur l'autre. • J'ai trouvé la nouvelle génération de personnages très attachante ! Sauf Bran que j'ai envie de gifler à la moindre parole ou au moindre geste, c'en est même agréable de voir toutes les réflexions qu'il se prend par les autres protagonistes 😂 Mais en ce qui concerne le slow burn entre deux des pirates de l'Avalon, je l'ai trouvé vraiment adorable et c'était un vrai plaisir de voir leur relation évoluer ! Même si parfois j'avais envie de les secouer pour qu'ils se rendent enfin à l'évidence ! • C'était une lecture incroyablement fluide et si agréable à lire grâce à la jolie plume de l'autrice ! Ça se lit avec une telle facilité et une rapidité, je sens malheureusement que je quitte cet univers petit à petit... 🕵🏼♂️REVIEW🕵🏼♂️ You Are Dead, @peterjamesuk ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 As always I love returning to this series and catching up with Roy and the rest of James’ cast and characters. You are Dead saw Roy tackling Brighton‘s first serial killer in a long time and I really enjoyed the real sense of panic throughout from both the police, the victims and even the public. The ‘Brighton Brander’ made for a formidable foe here and I love how James explores multiple POV’s throughout his narrative and how we get to see the killings from multiple angles. Since I knew I wouldn’t be able to visit a bookstore today (2under2 life 🫠), I went to an absolute diamond of a bookstore a couple days ago. This is Wijaya House! If you’re anywhere near Tempe, Arizona, it’s worth the trip. This gem has the coziest vibes, an interesting & diverse book selection (including blind dates with a book), and it doubles as a FLOWER SHOP WITH CLASSES YOU CAN TAKE! Oh, and they have an adorably shy shop dog named Banjo. It’s rare to find bookstores like @wijayahousebookshop. I can’t wait to get back there to explore more & read. Within the pages of this book, you will gradually realize how by virtue of being a woman, ill health is your default state as per a 'medical man'. A sentence in the book reads 'Medicine constantly reflected and enforced Victorian social ideals of womanhood and femininity and, as a rule, it was dominated by men. Men held all the knowledge about women's bodies, knowledge withheld from them personally as patients, and professionally as aspiring physicians.' In my post graduate final exam, among a batch of 5, we were 3 women and 2 men. We had two male doctors for external examiners, who made their misogyny clear by telling us we women were wasting our time becoming doctors, as also at the end of the exam, walking out of the department after shaking hands only with the 2 male students while we women looked on. This was the year 2013. "Cierń" T. Kingfisher, 8/10 Za książkę w ramach współpracy dziękuję @sqn_imaginatio. _ "Cierń" to króciutka książka z gatunku fantasy spod pióra amerykańskiej pisarki. Jest to moje pierwsze spotkanie z autorką, które okazało się bardzo udane. T. Kingfisher stworzyła swoją wersję "Śpiącej Królewny", w której to królewna nie gra głównej roli. Za sprawą książki poznajemy Ropuszkę, którą w dzieciństwie porwano i przeniesiono do Magicznej Krainy. To właśnie tam bohaterka była wychowywana przez wodnice, dzięki którym zyskała zdolność zmiany w żabę. Pewnego dnia Ropuszka została wysłana do świata ludzi, gdzie jako wróżka miała pobłogosławić nowonarodzone dziecko. Nie wszystko poszło zgodnie z planem i tak zaczęły się kłopoty naszej głównej bohaterki. Bardzo polubiłam Ropuszkę, na której barkach spoczął wielki ciężar związany z ratowaniem ludzkiego królestwa. Ponadto postać Halima, czyli łagodnego rycerza, który wyruszył na poszukiwania uwięzionej księżniczki wywołała we mnie wiele pozytywnych uczuć. Całość została zachowana w baśniowym i pełnym magii klimacie, co sprawiło, że książka dała mi ogrom ciepła, chociaż w całej historii pojawiają się również smutniejsze momenty. "Cierń" to krótka lektura, która z pewnością pozostanie ze mną na długo. 🥾 LECTURE TERMINÉE 🥾 J’ai fait hier une magnifique rencontre, celle de Bernard Ollivier alors qu’il entamait le chemin de sa retraite après une carrière de journaliste. C’est le titre de son récit qui m’a attirée #laviecommencea60ans et si c’était vrai ? Il ne s’agit pas d’un livre de recettes magiques ni d’un énième manuel de développement personnel ; Bernard Ollivier raconte de manière simple et directe comment il décide de se rendre à St Jacques de Compostelle pour réfléchir chemin faisant à ce qu’il fera du reste de sa vie. 🥾🎒 « Le bonheur n’est pas seulement physique. Le corps donnait le tempo. La marche induisait une sorte de dynamique spirituelle. Jamais je n’avais ressenti avec autant de plaisir l’acte de penser. Je constatais, et je l’ai par la suite maintes fois vérifié, que la marche est un exercice moins physique que spirituel. » 🎒🥾 Et dans la décennie qui suivra, il marchera d’Istanbul jusqu’en Chine et surtout il créera Le Seuil, une association proposant une alternative à la prison à de jeunes délinquants invités à marcher pour retrouver le droit chemin.
