The north playground invites all ages with expansive children’s play paired with a large exercise area featuring an obstacle course and the City’s first designated slackline area. On the edges of the park surrounding the new multigenerational recreation center in development in Tracy, California, clusters of trees and plants will serve as “carbon gardens.” The carefully designed habitat will sequester an estimated 54.8 tons of CO2 annually, in addition to adding a host of amenities, including a skate park, dog park, walking trails and bike connectivity, fostering a sense of community, and encouraging intergenerational interaction. Baywalk: Pittsburg | CA The Baywalk site plan illustrates a vibrant coastal community connecting adjacent wetlands and recognizing the area’s industrial history. Over 10-15 years, Baywalk will transform a brownfield into a neighborhood with housing, mixed-use, commercial, and open spaces. Strict measures will protect adjacent wetlands and waterways from development while allowing Baywalk to provide its residents with recreational areas and access to natural areas. Using regional plants and materials Baywalk will deliver several parks and open spaces that reflect the region’s natural geography and provide residents with artful, outdoor spaces. Northgate Town Square: San Rafael | CA Northgate Town Square is a proposed redevelopment of an existing shopping mall. This project transforms the existing 44.8 acre site into an open-air lifestyle center complete with mixed-use multifamily housing, townhome units, commercial retail, and a town square park. The project program included designing a vibrant lifestyle center that reimagines how traditional retail is activated, designing to ensure connectivity to the greater context of the site and Bay area region. The goals of the project were to attract residents, employers, retail, and community members to the site with thoroughly designed amenities and by being transit oriented, promoting walkable neighborhoods, urban open space, and alternative transportation. Placer One Pocket Parks Placer County | CA Placer One Pocket Parks are village pocket parks going into the phase 1A of the Placer One master planned community that Urban Arena is also working on. The first village has a naturalistic butterfly themed park with an accessible embankment slide and a timber play structure and swing. The seventh village is a S T E A M themed park. Each of the play areas corresponds to one of the S T E A M categories. We are excited to see these parks come to life in the coming years. The project includes a 0.25 acre public plaza, a 0.50 acre recreation area featuring an 1,800 SF pool, indoor/ outdoor pool lounge and private cabanas, and a 3,600 SF dog park and is located across the street from Millenia Park. Casa Mira View San Diego | CA A unique water themed amenity area for the newest phase of Casa Mira View, Cascadas Park is the latest addition that will ultimately serve over 2,300 apartments. More than your average pool area, this new aquatic attraction has a traditional pool and spa but also includes a 2-story cabana building for sunning atop or shaded seating nooks below, a DJ booth above the pool restrooms for epic pool parties, a large splash pad with various emitters, spray tunnels, and soakers for children of all ages. Beyond the pool deck covered seating areas with barbeques for family cook-outs line the perimeter and a full-size lighted basketball court with large open turf space are provided for additional active recreation opportunities. Wagon Wheel: Oxnard | CA This new neighborhood park in the Wagon Wheel Town Square master-planned development will serve over 1,250 surrounding residents. This 2.3-acre park is open to the public and is located adjacent to Highways 1 and 101, which connect it to the larger Oxnard master-planned community. Turf, shade sail covered tot lots, a sand volleyball court, gaming areas, and shaded picnic spaces provide outdoor amenities for everyone. The park serves as the community's center hub, providing spill-out and outdoor dining areas for the nearby bowling alley and brewery, as well as access to the adjacent HOA courtyards and pool via a fire lane disguised as a pedestrian promenade. The highly anticipated Mariposa Park renovation project broke ground on January 10, 2024 with a community-centered ceremony marking the beginning of new and exciting enhancements of an already beloved park in an underserved community. The new playground, educational signage, decorative concrete, ramadas, seating, tables, bbqs, hydration stations, and renovated community building will bring significant improvements to the site to help cultivate a more enjoyable and accessible space for the entire community. The City of Corona, CA has an active Veterans Connect Group and the city shows great respect for and honors their veterans. IDS is humbled and proud to be the landscape architecture design firm selected for the renovation of Corona’s City Hall Veterans Memorial.
