I remember in the strategy meeting all the nominees were white women. The only African American at the table, I was nervous, but spoke up and suggested, “why don’t we honor @msvfox …for the women in film award.” When we met she walked up to me and said “I wandered who was responsible for this…bc this organization has never recognized me” She thanked me, I told her we would work together again one day!and I was proud! I made sure I stayed close to her and waited on her hand and foot. Making certain she was taken care of in a very racially divided room.
