#MicrophoneMonday 🎤 This week’s microphone from our vault is the Avantone CV-12 tube mic with variable polar patterns and wonderful warm fuzzies 🔥. It’s a 1950’s era AKG C12 clone, but without the C12 5-figure price tag (yes, if you’re lucky enough to even find an original C12, they can fetch over $20k 💀 and even a modernized AKG C12 VR is still over $7k). While maybe not exactly the same as the original, this CV-12 is still a great sounding mic in its own right. Really like the tone of it on vocals. Haven’t used it on anything other than various vocals yet but I might try it on the flugelhorn soon. Did a vocal recording session last week with the affordable and great CV12 tube mic from Avantone. My trusty ATH m40x for closed-back monitoring, and the little Behringer MA400 heaphone amp. As always, K&M stands keeping everything steady and secure. The pop filter is a cheap DIY project of mine; by far the most transparent and efficient windscreen I've heard so far.
