Follow up on AC Delco mounts. After installation and a test drive, there is a good 3/8" clearance around oil pan now, with just the mounts, no shims. What's happening with the @_steve_d_martin_ tiki van? Just sorting all the usual Astro weak points. Motor mounts sagging to the point of front diff bolt rubbing on oil pan. Picked up a set of motor mounts at the parts store no surprise that they are very cheaply made with a 14gauge cage instead of 11gauge as original. I ordered a set of AC Delco mounts in hopes they are better quality. I guess we'll see in a few days when I get them. Leaking oil cooler lines that have been deleted and leaking Axle seals certainly made for a greasy mess to clean up. One out of 6 hub bolts had enough head left to remove, and the other 5 heads were cut off and then easily removed with pipe wrench with the hubs removed. Well the Van from Japan is getting close to being ready for inspection time. Basically it’s just waiting for some new shoes (wheels and tires) which should be arriving tomorrow. It has new front brakes, controls arms, sway bar links, idler arms, back up lights, stereo, oil change, daytime running lights and a bunch of other little things. After inspection and getting it registered it will be time to work on getting the interior ready for work. I’m excited to start using this rig. It’s going to be a challenge getting it set up for work to carry everything I need but having something with a smaller footprint will be well worth it. When doing the front leaf spring hangers last week, I realized the shocks were toast. Some fresh @kybsuspension MonoMax rear shocks installed today. Much more stable ride now! When we put the @journeysoffroad 2-3” lift on a few months ago the van developed a vibration between 10-15 mph 30-40 mph because of adding only the rear shackles, which changed the pinion angle. The guys at Journeys recommended adding the front spring hangers to correct the angle instead of using pinion shims. Got them installed today. The top hole on the new hangers is the same as stock. I went with the 2nd hole down and it added between 1/2” and 3/4” more lift in the rear, which actually looks good. Rear shackles are in the middle hole. So it’s time to start cleaning these things up stripping off all the Jeep mounts and getting ready to hang em under Nelson.
