A few weeks ago an intriguing bone showed up outside of my favorite neighbors yard. You can tell this bone had been loved and left. Its smell pulled me in night after night, but I was yanked away each time. Last week as I passed the bone on our way home I seized the opportunity to take the bone. To my surprise mom didn’t protest. I carried it a couple blocks, and almost had it home, but my mouth was tired, and my humans wouldn’t help me, so I left it on the sidewalk. For days we walked by that bone seeing it change shape as other dogs or critters munched a bit. Finally last night, I grabbed it again, and walked with it 3 blocks this time. I tried lying down to take some chews, but was prodded along. Finally I came to a spot where I thought I could take a break and chew, but mom had other plans. She tossed the bone just out of my reach. Wtf!? I know exactly where it is, and vow to get it back someday. #rockysweekinreview

This weekend was very eventful. Both humans were off work, and I loved it. One of the top highlights, was the Cat! We saw a Cat in our yard. Twice! Maisy barks at most things moving outside the house. I get worked up with happy excitement for the mail carrier, all humans that come to the door, and Cats! I really love those kitties. Maisy made a new friends weeks back, but Mom hasn’t been able to get a photo. The new dog is Birdie, she lives with my human friend Chuck. I adore him, and look for him everyday on walks. He gives me pets, and lots of treats. Chuck has a low rider named Chance, and they just adopted Birdie. Maisy loves playing kissy face with the dogs through the fence. I just stand there staring at the house, waiting for Chuck. He didn’t come out today, but it was still a great day. Happy Sunday friends! #rockysweekinreview

Spring is here, and I’ve been obsessed with grass. This time of year the smooth, delicate blades are everywhere I turn, and I can’t seem to walk past without snagging a bite. I found a big patch at a park near our house, and Mom has to lure me away with treats. Taking a bit of time this #rockysweekinreview to reflect. I’m feeling extra grateful today to live in a place with sidewalks, and green space filled with grass, bushes, and trees to sniff. For neighbors that like us, and stop to give pets or come out of their house with treatos. I’m grateful Maisy goes to daycare, comes home tired, and absolutely loves it! I’m grateful for friends who teach us and give us new perspectives on dandelions, the arctic, inclusion, and dog rescue. We have so many friends that make us laugh, and smile, and others that we appreciate for being vulnerable, and sharing their challenges, and heart breaks. My hoomans and I went on a road trip to the Oregon Coast. We had so much fun exploring beaches, and lounging on the deck at our rental house. I love the beach so much. The sand feels good under my paws, and the smells are so good! I’m not a water dog, I do my best to avoid it, but luckily there’s so much beach to explore without having to get too close to the water. The couple times I had to cross over a couple inches of water I wasn’t quite sure what to do, but luckily my hoomans really encourage me, and I feel brave. #rockysweekinreview

I was thinking how last week was more of the same, but after reflecting I remembered it was quite eventful. Yes, there was the usual time spent on walks, naps, and begging for food and attention, but there was some novelty added in. For instance, Maisy had a vet appointment, just some routine bloodwork and a 💩 squeeze 😷. I rode along of course, and was extremely relieved when they came for her and I was able to stay in the car. I think Mom felt bad, so Maisy enjoyed a new toy that evening. It didn’t take long for her to retrieve the squeaker, and that poor thing has lost its face. The best day was Friday. The sun was out, blue skies, and both humans were off work. We spent some time in the yard. I lounged while Maisy tried to help with some yard work. She’s still an apprentice in that department, so you’ll want to check out that clip ASAP. We’ve rounded out the week with a morning walk around the neighborhood. Week in Review: We went on walkies, and I stared at Mom for treatos while Maisy stayed alert looking for critters, or dogs to bark at. I can only ‘stay’ for so long before I have to remind Mom that I’m waiting for the treat. Every evening we all squeeze into the kitchen. It’s family time. We snooze, waiting for food to be dropped or shared, and the humans get a workout stepping over us. You’re welcome we say. Maisy hasn’t always joined us in the kitchen, she was slow to realize the benefits. I’ve known from day 1 and I join the humans each time they enter the kitchen. Throughout the day there are opportunities for neighborhood watch. Usually we’re perched on a bench looking out the large front window, barking or whining at cats, squirrels, other dogs, and raccoons. This day we went on a walk around our yard, and took time to stare at a squirrel in the yard across the street. Mom got us inside before we could run over there and talk to that squirrel. Yesterday the sun came out, and it was lovely. We laid in the grass a bit, and snoozed in sun patches inside. I even got to ride in the car with Mom, just me. It was like the old days. We ran errands, got a scone at the coffee shop, and she took me to sniff and trot at the local park. Hopefully you’ve had a great week friends! Enjoy your Sunday!

It has been a long time since we’ve trotted, and sniffed around our favorite park. At least it feels like forever when you’re living on dog time. I don’t usually get bored sniffing around the neighborhood, but there is something extra special about this park. Maisy was off leash for a bit, and I don’t think she looked up for 5 minutes. She was sniffing, and bounding around using her hunting skills. I do plenty of sniffing, but keep bounding to a minimum, instead I trot near Mom, looking for treatos. Today I’m feeling a little sore, but it was worth it. Happy weekend friends!
