Begonia Brevirisimosa ssp. Exotica propagation (perlite / peat experiment.) I have been experimenting growing the Brevirimosa exotica begonia for quiet a while now. It is not an easy plant to propagate and its taking quite a long time to produce its cute micro babies especially when its grown indoor with dry air circulation. I have tried out propagating it with 100% coco peat + root hormone and some i diluted it with vit b1. Outcome: only 1 successful leaf propagation out of 20 leafs 😆. Almost all didnt make it. Time frame: took me 4 months to see their green babies popping out. On the month of ( July ) ive decided to do a 2nd experiment propagating it with 100% perlite. I filled it up with a quarter of water. Outcome: 3 successful leafs Time frame: i find the growth rate in perlite is more faster than peat base. Refering to the 1st pic above, it has already produce baby leaf in just under 2 months 🌱 Side Note: Some of the begonia leaf propagation on coco peat got rotten and i kind of forgotten to throw them out ( swipe left to see pic reference ) im glad i didnt throw them out, as im seeing signs of life coming out from the rotten leafs 🤭. im not sure if it will survive though. It's happening! Det tog nästan exakt fem månader, men nu händer det! Den sjunde januari satte jag tre begoniablad i jord. Ett dog ganska fort, men de andra två har behållit sin spänst under hela tiden. Jag trodde dock inte att det skulle bli något med det, men kolla!! De två första bilderna är från idag, den tredje är från dagen jag satte dem i jord. *Tillvägagångssätt* Växt: Begonia Änglavinge, Albopicta. Plantering: Klippte av ett blad och såg till att klippa med lite av stammen. Stack ner bladet som det var i jorden. Jord: Vanlig planteringsjord, blandad med perlite. Ljus: Konstant växtlampa, delar av dygnet. Placering: Under plastpåse till en början, sedan under kupa och till sist i ett litet växthus. ¡Hola! Si has visto el #reels que subí el domingo pasando esta begonia a maceta, ahora quería enseñarte cómo ha quedado. He dejado varios alfileres de coser para mantener la hoja madre pegada al sustrato porque me da la impresión de que aún le queda más vida por dar 🥰. Cuando pasen unos días te enseño cómo va evolucionando, ¿quieres? Me encanta propagar begonias de hoja porque además de ser algo súper fácil, ¡es mágico! ¿Cómo es posible que de una hoja sea posible tal maravilla? Yo tampoco daba crédito hasta que me puse a experimentar y comenzaron a brotar casi por arte de magia pequeñas hojitas diminutas que han dado lugar a plantas enteras, grandes, hechas y derechas. Someone got shaved today so the Texas heat doesn’t roast him like a weenie and he doesn’t know it yet but he’ll appreciate it when we get there! For all of you angel wing Begonia propagating pros, this is old news, but I hadn't propagated one before. About a month ago I cut just above the node and put the cut piece in water. I waited and waited and wasn't sure how the plant (where it was cut) was going to grow... would it push out a leaf or a stem? This is the result. I can see why people cut them back to get a full plant. These guys can get tall and spindley. The piece I placed in water was taking a long time to root out, so I finally dipped the tip in rooting hormone and put it in soil in a plastic bag for humidity and it has grown 2 inch roots in about a week and a half! #angelwingbegonia #begonialucerna #begoniapropagating #propagation #plantpropagation #ilovepropagation #iloveplants
