The #sundaleopardcat is just slightly smaller than the domestic cat. I was incredibly fortunate to have over 25 encounters with these lovely #cats over 7 nights in #deramakotforestreserve While currently considered #leastconcern they are still vulnerable to #habitatloss The #leopardcat was highly entertaining during our drives, some were completely calm and decided to pose for us, others disappearing in a flash, while a couple seemed to ask us to follow them down the road after them. The #colugo has got to be one of the most #bizzareanimals in #borneo They are gliders and actually the closest relative of the primate. Also known as the #sundaflyinglemur And so cute. On our river transfer earlier in the morning we had been able to hear some #elephants but not see them and I though my chance of seeing elephants on my trip to #borneo had gone. But on our first #nightsafari in #deramakotforestreserve as we rounded a corner this is what we saw. While we ended up having a number of #wildlifeencounters with #pigmyelephants during our stay in the forest this is the view that will always stay with me. #internationalorangutanday I was incredibly fortunate to have multiple encounters with #orangutans on my trip to #borneo On #internationorangutanday it's great that I can share my closest encounter from #deramakotforestreserve This guy was in a tree just by the road and we stopped to observe and take a few photos. He kept a close eye on us. I was behind the vehicle on my own at one point and he was watching me, and his gaze followed me as I walked back to join the others on the other side of the van.
